Just got my Kastking Assassin reel. I'm digging the free neoprene cover that came with it. Can't wait to try out the reel!

Mine performed well in very poor conditions a couple weeks ago. I'll be getting it out again in the next couple days.

Man, I might be stepping on my right nut for saying this but that thing looks downright sexy !

Just got the one I ordered, too.  I love the look and feel of this reel.  I can't wait to get out there and do some more testing with it.  So far it has performed very well.  I love the reel cover, too - keeps the scratches, etc. down when it's bouncing around in the rod locker.

Just got mine, any issues with noise? The centrifugal brakes on mine are noisy as heck during casts and reeling.

I have 2 - you have to open them up & clean the gunk out that they use for reel grease. Clean & lube the entire reel properly that I always do to any new one. Mine have been flawless.

You guys are killing me!!!:annoyed1:

My buddy came over yesterday with this exact reel.  I was very very skeptical of it to begin with but was very surprised at the performance.  I have no intention of moving away from my current brand preference but anyone who is on a mega budget and wants to start with a baitcaster could start here with little risk.  It took a little to get it set up but once we did, it was a decent casting reel. I have to give credit where credit is due. The handle is worth 40 bucks alone.

How does it compare size wise to a Lews LFS? I haven't seen any kastkings in person, but they look a little big in pictures.

Don't have any Lew's, but it's similar in size to a 200 I Curado, just a little taller off the rod. Much smaller than say the old greenie Curados and very light.

Thanks that took care of it. I put a bit of light grease on the ring that the centrifugal brakes ride on. Casts soo much farther than my Tatula!

Whats the verdict on the KastKing Assasin now that youv'e had them awhile? I have a 4600 C3 on an 7'3" Duckett that changing out that C3 would drop the weight 4 oz.  I know 4 oz doesn't seem like a lot, but after several hours of pitching and flipping I notice my arm starting to wear out.

I like mine, but I haven't used it for flipping and pitching. All my use with it has been casting hard baits.

Just ordered one of these after seeing the Frog video.

Frogging on a 6.3:1 gear ratio? Interesting.

Better than frogging with a spinning rod, which I've done. I also frog with a 6.8:1 on a medium heavy without issue.

I have a bunch of Curado and Chronarch 101's. Decided to try an Assassin. I dont care for it. Very hard for me to set up with all the adjustments. Maybe it;s me but doesnt cast very far (1/2 oz cranks/jerkbaits). I think it would be very difficult for a beginner to set up.I'll stick with a used Shimano for same price.

That's strange, my Assassin is the furthest casting reel I own, part of why I use it for traps is it's ability to launch a bait. It was a little finicky getting it dialed in just right, but now that it is I never mess with the settings.

I can't fault you for buying all the Curados and Chronarchs you can get for less than $60 though.

Definitely fiddle a bit.  I use heavy brakes on mine, very little spool tension.  While mine isn't my farthest caster, it's one of the easiest going reels - very forgiving.

Anyone experience that this reel is reel noisy when the centrifugal brake is turned higher than “0”?

Mine makes a loud and high pitch sound when that brake is on at all. I’m trying to figure out if that’s normal or if I got a dud.

Mine isn't quiet by any means, but it's not a high pitched sound either. Functions very well, so I can deal with the little noise.
