    Did the wives send you?

  • I have a good bit, but I'll defend my somewhat silly admission by saying that most (though not all) consists of bags of assorted discontinued high quality soft baits as well as a certain unopen carton

  • So much it's ridiculous. I can't stop buying. I don't even use half of it. I probably use 1/8th of it.

A lot...I mean..really, a lot. More than I could count, mostly cause they are everywhere. In bags, big bags and small bags. Plastics, crankbaits, spinners both in-line and safety pin, jerkbaits. If you could see my sportsman's room, it looks like a bomb went off in there.

Same here, except it's in one half of my garage.

Not nearly enough.

But seriously, I have probably ~500 (give or take a little) packs of plastics, lures and weights.

The only unopened bags I have are just duplicates of stuff I throw all the time.  I've started to limit my purchases because I have what I need and then some

I keep about 20 or so unopened jigs in my tackle bag that are different sizes and colors.  Just in case I start loosing them around cover.  Other than that everything has been opened up.

Several large boxes full.  I'm not proud of it, but might as well admit it.  I consider collecting baits when at deep discount to be a hobby of it's own.

The DOE may have the strategic petroleum reserve, but I have stepped up to assemble and maintain the strategic Rapala Crankin' Rap reserve.

Glad to know just in case we ever get in a war with Finland. :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I open all my stuff and put it in the boxes. Most of em never seen water...yet.

  • 3 weeks later...

I leave as many cranks as possible in package until used, there's so many I can't remember what depth they dive to or wobble or not wobble or suspend or float or...  At lease in package it has info on it.  Now storing that is another topic...

Tons of plastics. I tried to not buy any for awhile and use what i have, but i'm an addict. Just today I bought five packs of christie claws cause they were on clearance rack at academy. Like I needed another plastic craw.

"How much unopened tackle do you have?"

NONE

Now, if you asked me how much "unused" tackle I have,

I would shrivel in sheer embarrassment   :embarassed:   :crazy1:

just a few (20ish) bags of plastics... and January LTB. Oh, and a couple of those jigs I saw for cheap...

Same here.

:love-093:

If I left tackle in the packages, my wife would cut my allowance, as she's a practicing amateur fishing tackle detective.

I "incorporate" alleged new items into the existing mix, thereby creating plausible deniability.  :)

I, too, suspect a mole.

Unopned....probably a dozen baits.  Now if we are talking unfished and in a tacklebox.....well that's a whole different story all together and probably a different thread too.

I can't not open up something new when I get it home -- I always want to have a close look at wires, line-ties, paint jobs, snaps, split rings, hooks, skirts, blades, swivels, and other critical components right away. And then I want to replace, fix, or otherwise tweak anything that looks like it needs tweaking...and then I want to find it a nice home in one of my boxes.

According to some-too much. According to me-just the beginning. Its a full blown addiction. And I love it.

Uh, I'll take the Fifth on this one.

Some bags of soft plastics. I have to open bags and boxes of most things I get to play with them or smell them. I'm weird like that. My buddy has boxes of unopened spares in his boat, but I use a kayak when I'm alone.

Wow!  Some of you bass heads have a real problem! :ok-wink:

My one buddy has a real problem with Xcalibur XR50's but since they are scarce I'd say he's probably okay for a few....decades...

I have a bad addiction, buying vintage tackle lots on Ebay.  I see one or two lures I want, and buy the whole lot.  Never know what I might need.  I have had dozens of boxes delivered to my mothers house in Eastern WA.  I will only be there for three weeks in May.  If I did nothing but tie on different lures the whole time I'm there, I doubt I would be able to fish them all.  I'm sure before I leave I will make a Tackle Warehouse order to make sure I have all the latest and greatest.  All I really will need, is some Vibrax no 3 spinners, a black single Colorado spinner bait, a few floating Rapalas, and some buck tail jigs.  Every year I try about half of what I order, then catch all my fish on these few baits.   My only excuse, is I haven't found a 12 step  lure buying  program in my area.   Maybe the government should start requiring tackle manufactures to print pictures of tackle hoarders stashes on the package, just like the ones they put on cigarettes. Technically these baits have been opened by previous owners, just repacked to ship.  Does that count?  Maybe I don't have a problem at all.

I'm actually trying to thin out my collection. There was a moment before I really knew what I needed when I was just snatching up anything I saw on sale. But now I have a much more focused approach to my tackle stash, so I'm able to eliminate much of the stuff I don't really need. I do, however, still like to have backups of the stuff I use. But I try to limit that to a reasonable amount, too. So any soft plastic, jig, crank or other lure in my bag has 2-5 backups in the basement. I guess that would amount to "dozens" of unopened items. I don't think I've reached the "hundreds" level... yet.
