Ticket?  In Scott's case it might be an accusation of homicide by lethal gas attack.  :P

Hey! I resemble that remark. Maybe that's why nobody will fish with me.

Pretty much anything that walks upright and has opposing thumbs...

  • My current biggest gripe is guys who fish from the docks at busy public access sites.  I'm not talking about the guys who may make a few casts and leave, but the clowns who show up with chair, tackle

I have learned form experience to NEVER wear flip flops when bank fishing in Florida. I get bit by fire ants every time if I don't wear shoes.

people who dont fish that come with you and distract you, eff around, play music, then get bored and want to leave

How about Resident ducks and geese.  They occupy huge stretches of bank, leave their crap all over, are loud when they pitch in and out or if you have to pass them, and often come beg you for food.  Especially on ponds, where there is limited space, its hard to fish a certain spot when there is a flock of 50+ Canada geese right in your way.

One spillway I fish, they are so bad, you have to get out of the truck and chase them out of the driveway and parking spots on foot.

Talk about a PITA.

Wakes and jet skiers.  I hate when people don't have the decency to avoid someone fishing.  There's ton's of open water, why the heck are you 30 yards off my bow!

Encroachment.  Give me room, and I'll give you room.  You get too close, I'm casting at you.  Especially if it's getting dark. The worst are the local tournament fishermen.  I don't know why, but over the last few years it has gotten worse. They will buzz right up on you and cut in front of where you're going.  I get the water is free to fish wherever, but geez.

And a relatively new one is the jackrabbit that moor's his boat IN the launch slip to go get his truck or park the truck after semi-launching.  There's a whole dock open, but instead they tie off right there blocking the ramp.  I got aggravated the other day at a dude perched at the end of the launch slip with his mini sail boat half blocking it, while I was idling around with my trailer ON THE RAMP waiting to load!  @$$hat was taking selfies, and pictures of his GF.  I finally decided I could / would make it fit and fight the wind off... he finally moved once I was about 15 yards off and coming in.

I guess I could sum it up with entitled, disrespectful people.  Off the water, add to that list every commercial or tv show that has the poor dude with the upside down spinning reel.  Drives me bonkers.  Out of all the people on the set you would think ONE would say, um yeah --- that's not right.

The bucket battalion is my biggest pet peeve. They take every bass home, legal or not.

not just bass, it's any fish they catch:angry7:

My son, when he refuses to listen to me and then gripes that he doesn't catch any fish.  I love him, he loves to fish, but he has his own ideas.  Using a 3 inch crankbait (catching only trees) when I'm reeling in bass by the boatload on a Senko, and he gripes.  Then he wonders why his sister outfished him the other day 5-0 over the course of about 2 hours.  He refuses to accept that the longest cast is not the best cast.

He won't be 14 forever so I enjoy the moments with him (and her) regardless

In a tie for the lead are:

The jet skiers, and wake boats.

In a distant 2nd place:

The 6-7pm "pontoon boat parade" that circles the lake every night from Memorial day to Labor day, with most of them passing too  close to me and just fast enough to throw off a huge wake.

After that in no particular order:

Heavy wind when fish ain't biting....if it's really blowing but they are chomping, I could care less.

When my home lake is slow. It happens, I just don't like it or respond well to it.

Idiots at the ramp.

Except for the 14 yr. old part, I got a friend who is very much like that description. He got skunked for a whole day because he wouldn't stop throwing a topwater frog. :annoyed1:

It used to be wind, I made a big effort to get effective on windblown points this year, I've actualy gotten where I get excited if it's windy. I had a lot of help from the guys here figuring out how to use the wind to my advantage. High heat seems to be my biggest annoyance. I had rather fish in the rain, or at night  than a 95+ degree sticky, still day. It's hard to escape,  If you keep geting wet to cool off you chafe. I bought a couple of the cooler bandannas that you wear around your neck, they help some. Gotten to the point if it is really hot I will troll the points with a deep diver just to get air moving over me.

Approaching any stranger and attempting to educate them in proper practice is usually a BAD idea these days.

I think that this depends on the dock and launch site. I fished a huge dock structure on Lake Geneva growing up and mostly fished away from the ramp area, but would also fish the ramp area when boats were not being launched and landed. The location was great, because you could hit the dock next to it, and the depth and weedbed in the area made this dock a great shore fishing spot on a lake that didn't have a lot of good public access fishing. I think the key to doing it is being respectful both ways in many cases. Pack light so you can quickly move when boats show up. I also picked up some knowledge from the boaters coming in too, most were very nice. My largest fish on the lake a 40'+ pike came from that launch ramp area.

trees they took 2 of my spooks today

Annoying? Besides pontooms/jet skiers, up here in Wisconsin its the dang horse/deer flies..

How about the guy that brings 15 fish back to the ramp and then tries to give them all away?  Why does he keep them if he's not going to clean and eat them himself?

I can deal with the horse and deer flies, at least you can kill them and not go to jail for it

Tournaments. I only fish during the week to avoid them and crowds in general. Our lakes are tiny around here.

40' (that reads 40 feet)?  Wow... that must have been some fight!

I wouldn't say "entitled", I would say oblivious.  Most people just don't give a second thought to how their actions are affecting someone else.

Hell, one spot I fish that all I can catch fish on. The weeds are so thick it's near impossible to get any other lure through it let alone catch anything in them. Of course it doesn't help that a frog is about the only lure the bass will hit. Plus you have the pickerel to worry about, they like biting through your line and swimming off with lures.

Pretty much everything that annoys me on the water is human related.  Whether it be wake boats, jet skis, or the people lined up fishing off the only dock at the landing.

My wife whacking me with a Pop R while I'm trying to tie up to the dock is pretty annoying.

In the eastern panhandle of West Virginia we have this indigenous species of boat ramp campers. They are a cheeky specie with their coolers, comfortable lounge chairs, and the knack of taking up the whole boat ramp. Not only do they do this but when you ask them to move as polite as possible, they hiss and carry on. They are very temperamental and easily disturbed.

On a serious note, it is so bad with here that I watched a boater actually back over the stuff at the boat ramp, along with almost backing over the people themselves due to them telling the boater to go find another place to launch his boat. It has been terrible this year and getting worse. The second would be the weekend warrior bass pro tapped out at full throttle thru the wake zones.
