Most Annoying Things while Fishing

Featured Replies

Well, this happened to me back in Feb of 1981 I believe. I took my  wife fishing, I was not in the mood to go , but she wanted to. We went to Bugs Island to bank fish. It was about 50 degrees , warm for that time of year. I stopped at Ray Wests and bought a dozen Crappie minnows and we went right below his store at a big rock. I caught 10 slabs  that weighted over a pound each. I hauled but back to Rays and bought 4 more doz. minnows, never got another bite. The school le:huh:ft

 Always take plenty of bait

Pretty much anything that walks upright and has opposing thumbs...

  • My current biggest gripe is guys who fish from the docks at busy public access sites.  I'm not talking about the guys who may make a few casts and leave, but the clowns who show up with chair, tackle

Oh, I just remembered another thing that annoys me when fishing, Canada geese.

They are everywhere and I get annoyed I have to wait until September to start killing them :D.

This makes me want to say "Hippos", just to one-up you.

No gators bothered us today. Instead it was the fire ants all over my tackle box. They didn't get me today but my son had 4 or 5 bites on his legs. It's a tough day when you get more ant bites than fish bites.

There's not much that bothers me. I do become Irritated during the holiday's(4rth of July, Labor Day, Memorial day) because of the boat traffic, and the crappy behavior. I solved that by simply not going on those days.

The only other thing that could be considered bothersome Is the inability of some to simply be nice. :)

When bank fishing the number one most annoying thing has to be encroachment. Someone sees you catch something and the next thing you know they are standing right next to you.

When fishing in a boat I would have to say the thing that annoys me the most is boaters who don't slow down as they pass. The wake they cause is treacherous for small craft.

Well said.  In my case, if I'm nailing fishing from the shore (I'm shorebound), then clueless fools with a boat come encroaching on me.

On the personal side, ie, doing something myself that absolutely irritates me is when I am is such haste to get fishing, I cut the standing end of my line instead of the tag end after I tie my lure on.  Once is bad enough, but I've done it one time twice in a row.

LOL you're not the only one .

People that ask if you've caught any catfish while you're obviously targeting bass. It's normally a specific sub-group. I had one woman telling me how her old man (her words, not mine) was catching huge bass and cats at this pond I've fished my whole life, I don't think I've ever seen a bass over 1 pound come out of it.

You mean I'm not the only one, lol.  I just thought of one other.  It doesn't happen often but it happens when I get to the lake and realize I don't have my fishing license.  It usually happens when I go fishing driving a different car. I keep my license in the glove compartment of my go-to car.

And if anyone is wondering, I don't risk fishing without my license.

CARP!  What the heck are they doing when they jump? Always gets my ol' heart racing and it's s-o-o tempting to cast to the splashes. Took me a long time to realize they weren't bass. Sheesh!

Well, where to start. Parents who let their rotten kids run rampant like a flea infestation. Rotten parents who can't treat their kids with some decency. Weeds, trees, snags, trash, ignorance in abundance. There are a lot of things that irritate me and having bipolar disorder justakes it that much harder. But I think my biggest peeve while fishing is when I'm using some kind of bait instead of soft plastics, and upon casting I get backlash and my bait gets flung off or something on the water eat my bait and not the hook. I MEAN REALLY, COME ON! How hard is it to bite a hook and hold on? Lol.

Copperheads and mosquitos.

Here they can just call in your license using your driver's license number. If you have one, you're good to go.

When the wife and I were dating she agreed to go crappie fishing with me if I'd bait her hook. Well, I did and she caught fish off our dock so fast I didn't get to fish. By the time the bite stopped I only caught a couple channel cats.

I used to occasionally plan to get off work an hour early and drive an hour to fish the evening with my dad at his lake house when we knew the bass would be at a certain spot in huge schools where we could slay them in good numbers. Well, he would show up an hour earlier than me and go catch all the bass off the spot then come get me at the dock, leaving me with a few backup spots.

Running out of trolling motor battery.

Not catching fish. There are a lot of things that can annoy me while fishing but not hooking up is the one that annoys me the most.

Welcome aboard!

Well, I guess I get bothered by wind that is just where

I don't want it to be. That mostly. And I suppose fisherfolk

who don't care that you're already fishing a spot that

encroach on you because they saw you catch a dink which

means there are TONS of monster bass there....

Did I just say that, or think that?

Now that is a brilliant idea.  I'll need to give my state's fish and wildlife department a call.  They might even do this and I just didn't know. Thanks!

I buy my fishing licenses online and print out multiple copies. One in my car, one in my wallet, one in my boat, one in my tackle box. If I don't have a license near me, I'm probably in the bathroom.

Good idea . I'm going to make a couple of copies too .

Losing fish in a tournament, repeatedly, that would have put you in the money.

My cousin lost a nice bass trying to flip it in . It cost us first place . We netted every bass after that .
