Old school Bass Tracker. Found this picture the other night when I was digging around in the attic. I think this is  '85 model Bass Tracker 1.

  • Hey it floats!  Almost a week and I finally got it out on the water.  I'm following the break-in instructions for the engine, so I couldn't open it up.  I got the first hour out of the way.  I went to

Got my boat today!  Already about to get it opened up to install some gear.  Everything is really accessible and there should be no issues at all.  My dealer gave two tracker shirts to us... Almost ga

Those shorts are something else.  Kind looks like Rick Clunn.

That was the style back in the 80's. If you had them to your knees, you was a nerd. ?

Yeah, I remember, I'm 46.  Luckily, by around 86-87 longer short came in and haven't left, thank goodness.

My dealer still has not let me know if they ordered my steering wheel cap.  Maybe i need to let BPS order me one as well.  I need new hupcaps too, espcially if they are staying on for people now.

I mounted a transducer block using the holes they drilled in for the originaly fishfinder.    This way, you can patch up their work and place your transducer anywhere you like, within range of course.  The transducer block is only $20 and will allow you to make adjustments without concern.

The transducer should be just below the boat, just barely...  You what it more even than not.  Too low, and you will have a roostertail, too high and you will not get good readings.  I can still get readings up to about 10 mph, or a little more.  I cannot get reading going over 20.  I am still playing around with it.

There are many videos on youtube, few are great though, lol.  The garmin instructions have a diagram.  I moved mine as clost to the motor, on the right side.  I made sure it had clearance since it is a long side imaging one.

My steering wheel cap and rod bushings came in last week. BP shipped them straight to my house at no cost. I mounted the cap with a dab of silicon. Appears to be holding a lot better.. Also, does anyone else's engine cowling latch feel loose. Mine does not fit snug.

I didn't take any pics but it is the Original Cap and comes with the center decal to stick on.

Looking to do a Minnkota Terrova swap. Has anyone done it? Are the bolts accessible under the aluminum bow?

Do we have the 3 or 4 cylinder 40 hp motor?

I also noticed some hydraulic oil on the steering arm, or whatever it is that moves the motor.  the cap was loose.  I will be taking her to the shop in august when I go in for back surgery...

Good luck on the back surgery, having blown a couple discs myself it's not fun having back issues.

Nice!   Ha, I noticed that wing in the background.

Got "the call" today, a month early.   Apparently they've had some folks back out of their orders.   Went down and got my paperwork and headed to DMV tomorrow morning (yay?!??).  Will pick it up Monday after work.  Should be on the water Tuesday night.

Congrats, darn good boat for a heck of a deal!

100% RIGHT!

That is awesome picture, I just about want to hang it on my garage wall, LOL!.

I have not regreted this boat and I still believe it was a great value.  I look at pricier boats and ooh and ahh, but the heritage is the boat that made me buy a boat.  I just polished mine up and man is it shiney.  It is so easy to trailer and it just plain works.

I think that is what I will say everytime someone asks me.

HaHa! Go for it! I'm going to. I just want to fish!

We went night fishing last night.  I'm not a fan of night fishing, but it was nice being on the boat at night.  Calm water, no breeze that was relaxing .  We were the last out at the launch, no other trailers around.

Perfect time to use top water baits!

Was in the BP here in MD and they had a Sold Out sign up for the 40th boats.

My very first bassboat was a brand new 1983 Bass Tracker II. I had a motor for it (40hp Mercury) so i just bought the boat, trailer, and Minn Kota TM package. Price was $3000. I loved that boat! Kept it for 6 yrs, sold it to my brother, and he sold it to a friend of his later. It's still running strong !40HP pushed it around 32 gps.
