I've never understood these products - a guard to protect something that protects the prop.  I guess you could hide a badly damaged skeg with one, but if it was that bad, it's not that expensive to repair.

Reminds me of a bumper protector for a car or SUV. A protector to protect a protector. Haha!

  • Hey it floats!  Almost a week and I finally got it out on the water.  I'm following the break-in instructions for the engine, so I couldn't open it up.  I got the first hour out of the way.  I went to

Got my boat today!  Already about to get it opened up to install some gear.  Everything is really accessible and there should be no issues at all.  My dealer gave two tracker shirts to us... Almost ga

So I did a quick search about this.  I found prices from $150-300 for the repair.  If you take the lower unit off yourself it can be towards the lower price range at a local weld shop.  If you take the engine to someplace like Bass Pro, you can be out of the water for up to 3 weeks (they send it out) and of course the upper price range.

My skeg is good (knock on wood).  I was just curious about this.  Anyone have any experience with repairing a skeg?  :Captain:

Yep.  Just couldn't remember the cost.

Guys, I got the spare tire and mount kit last fall. I decided to mount the spare today but the U bolt seems too long with the spare face down or too short with the space face up. Any ideas? Thanks

Cleaned the boat today but had to abort mission before applying polish. I'll do that another weekend. I need to get out fishing for the first time this year. This year I'm picking up on ice fishing so it will be year round. What a nice package this boat is!

I went to Bass Pro and brought the spare tire bolts to the parts guy. He looked it up and said they put on the order the right part but gave me the wrong one. The one they gave me is 1 inch smaller on the U bolt. That's why I couldn't figure it out LOL!  It's finally mounted!

I hope going back to Bass pro shops wasn't too far out of your way for their mistake...  glad it worked out in the end. I still don't have a spare tire kit... I bought a plug kit in case I had an accident... Come to think about it I haven't put it in a new truck LOL. I will be up the road without a tire if I don't get this fixed

Haha! It's like an umbrella, if you have it with you just in case you won't need it. It's when you don't have it...

New Tracker Classic owner here. New to bass fishing.

My question(s) is... what is the lake size limitations for this boat? I fully understand wind and weather need to be accounted for so with that in mind what is the largest lake size I should ever consider taking this size boat onto?

Congratulations and welcome!

Umm, just what you are comfortable on,  you will learn this.  I would start on a smaller lake or one that you know.  The more you go out, the more conditions you will see and experience will build your confidence or determine what water is good for you.  Wind and weather can make just about any place crazy.  I have been on some good deep lakes with depths over 150 feed.  The water can be crazy there, especially when other boaters are making waves.

I live in the San Francisco Bay area.  I would never take this thing out to the bay or any thing where ships go, lol.  That's just me, some are bolder.

You have to slow it down when it is choppy and has small white caps, at least I do.  This boat will slap and bounce around with any kind of wave.

Good luck!

fish where you feel comfortable.

I fish lakes that are upwards of 450+ feet deep.

I've been on Lake Michigan which is kind of big.   Watch the weather and your OK. ?  I've seen smaller boats out there.

Thanks for the feedback. There are some lakes in Northern Minnesota I'd like to fish that are pretty large acreage wise. I've been out on three different local lakes here in southern Minnesota the largest being a 950 acre lake and the classic did fine. I suppose with more experience I'll learn more about it's limitations.

The lake My picture above is 1,024,600 acres

one of the other lakes I fish is 2,030,000 acres

another one is 2,400,000 acres

And all three of them get to 40+ in depth sometimes get a little rough if it is real windy.

Most lakes I wouldn't worry about taking that classic on. Just use common sense you should be fine.

Most lakes do offer coves you can duck into if weather gets bad where you can ride it out if the water gets rough.

Ive taken my heritage in 3 foot to 4 foot waves just slow down it was fine.

Wow those are some big ass lakes.

5th 4th and 3rd largest lakes in cali

Not trying to promote..  just want to share some relevant videos to the group.

Polishing the Heritage/Classic

Bimini Top Setup

Picked up my new Classic last weekend and promptly got her out on the water to start motor break in. Ran like a dream, plenty of room with both the kids and me. Couldn’t be happier!!!

Too windy this weekend so spent some time installing a new two bank battery charger and also moved the gas tank to the opposite side to help with weight distribution for when I’m solo.

Just a darn good boat boat for the price in my opinion!!!

Congratulations!!!!

I ordered mine in April and its supposed to be here mid August. After reading some stories I have my fingers crossed it makes it before the snow flakes start falling!

Absolutely worth the wait, I even find myself stopping by the garage just to mess around with it lol. Everything so far has worked great, build quality is excellent, a lot of comments from friends/family regarding how great the boat is as well. It feels good having something that’s nice, affordable, has everything we need, I think you’ll be happy with your purchase.

Tell me about it... I find myself working on it almost weekly.

I am constantly putting gear I am using in the foot Controller tray when I a moving from spot to spot so it stays.  I bought this cupholder from BPS for $5 on sale.  It is mounted on a sheet of kydex.  Now I can put my lures, bait, drink, etc right in front of me.

Well I sure hope the idiot that took the batteries gas tanks and sonars put them to good use. Sure wished I knew when they broke in I would look on the cameras and see if I can gt a good picture of them. Guess I will need to have a front put on the front of the carport.

It is enclosed 3 sides guess now it will b all 4 sides with a roll up and alarmed.

Guess bps I go to get new electronics and tanks.

I hate to hear this.  I know it was just "material"... But it was your personal property.  Man.

If I caught someone violating me, man... Lets just say I hope they don't for both our sakes.

Check Craigslist, letgo, OfferUp, and talk to other fishermen to see if some is trying to unload or had a lot of new stuff.

Finally as much as I think just kind of way I would teach this person a lesson, I need to learn from your experience.  I will be. Creating a l lock for my boat rear hatches TODAY!  I always thought it would be someone taking my gas... But the batteries too?  I keep my boat on the driveway.  I have cameras and all, but it does not prevent anyone from trying.

Good luck!

I remove all electronics from my boat, I have a quick release for my Maxxum trolling motor and run a chain and lock thru it and the steering wheel. Lock all my hatches. I took pictures of all my equipment I have on the boat so in case stuff does get stolen I have proof and my homeowners insurance should cover it... I hope lol

Man, the maxxum is heavy.  I used to use a lock on my edge and I would sometimes remove it.  I have yet to remove my maxxum.  I will put a lock on it again.  I keep all of my sonar screens off of the boat.  hatch is locked... but the rear hatch has no lock...  I will be adding TWO locks to my rear hatch so that my batteries and gas is protected a little more.

By boat is secured by trailer locks in the hitch, a hitch pin lock is on the breakaway tongue, and I use a wheel lock on one of the wheels.  my bedroom window overlooks my boat and my dog is very keen.  If I saw someone... they better HOPE they are out of my sights :0
