Man, the maxxum is heavy.  I used to use a lock on my edge and I would sometimes remove it.  I have yet to remove my maxxum.  I will put a lock on it again.  I keep all of my sonar screens off of the boat.  hatch is locked... but the rear hatch has no lock...  I will be adding TWO locks to my rear hatch so that my batteries and gas is protected a little more.

By boat is secured by trailer locks in the hitch, a hitch pin lock is on the breakaway tongue, and I use a wheel lock on one of the wheels.  my bedroom window overlooks my boat and my dog is very keen.  If I saw someone... they better HOPE they are out of my sights :0

Yea that Maxxum IS heavy, used take of the boat and carry it to the garage... that was short lived. Now I just put it on the floor with the head at the steering wheel.  I have a chain running thru one of the wheels and over the leaf spring, and 2 trailer coupler locks.

Thanks

Yea my setup is one of them metal carports enclosed 3 sides. It is on the ide of my house behind a pair of gates the walls are 6 foot tall overall height I believe is 9 foot top of gates is 7 foot so its not seen easily from the street. you can see the top of carport. boat you would have to climb up on fence to see it.

Gates are made of square tubing and have two drop rods for bottom going into the ground and a sliding bar with lock on top. I also have cameras all around my house but the issue is it stores data for 10 days and I have no clue when they did this. been looking as much as i can trying to see but nothing so far.  Pretty bad I guess I need to check my boat every day. never had this issue before.

Called the carport company today going be another grand for enclosing front with a roll up door but its going to happen.

then I will have the alarm company alarm the door on it too.

Hey all, should hopefully have my classic in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed.

im wondering if there is anyway to install a fuel gauge in the center console. Anyone looked into this?

cheers

Happy for you!!!  Can't wait to get some new blood and activity on the thread.

I have looked into to it, but I will wait until I make my mind up on the larger, permanent tank.  I current just check and sometimes use the vessel view app on my phone.  To use Vessel view, you have to add on a module: https://publications.brunswick.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VV-MM

Vessel view could be a better investment in the long run.  We can check our engine hours, track services, get engine error codes, get a better estimate of fuel range, and more!  It gives a lot of us peace of mind that we know what up with our boats.  The dealer will most likely charge you to read codes.  This app has the reall engine hours, not a guess or an add on timer that could be off.

A lot of us got in on a promotion to get it for $150 a few months ago...

The promotion has ended, but here it is on ebay, brand new for $175

This is the same company I purchased mine from.  It came in perfect and brand new.  It's $25 more now, but still a good deal.  It is very easy to install!  I have a video showing the install, but there are others with a detailed video of how to install it.  It is a 10 minute job.

My experience is that you would have to be driving around non stop for 4+ hours to use the gas in a full tank. I have been out fishing numerous times and am amazed on how little gas we use. The gas tank supplied seems more than plenty if you are fishing and using the trolling motor.

I agree with this post, I will state up front my overall hours are not as high as others here, just got my baby four weeks ago lol, but the fuel consumption seems excellent. Last trip out we wondered around quite a bit, probably 3/4 full throttle most the time and came back in mid day, used a quarter tank. I was considering a two gallon portable gas tank to throw in on days I think I may be out all day “just in case” but probably won’t need it. My two cents

My extra fuel tank is just to fill up the boat or truck when I want to go fishing right now with no stops.  I fish 3 + times a week.

This engine saves gas!  I have never come close to running out.

Just be sure to be a fuel stabilizer in with each fill as the gas will last so dang long.

@FreeDivr put a hose clamp on the fuel line...  the only issue I had with the tank is that the fuel line fell off inside the team. That made me think I was running out of gas or engine was failing because the boat would not stay cranked up.

Thanks for the heads up.Installed mine yesterday, super simple.Love all the things you can monitor and look at,and now I dont even have to pop the top to check my hours on a little meter. Not a vital component but definitly a cool one.One of those times you love modern technology.

Went out this morning got to my spot and dropped the trolling motor and immediately heard a terrible grinding noise.  I took the prop off and I had a broken shear pin.  It actually broke in three pieces.  With no spare, I took out the center section that was in the motor shaft.  I used the outer sections slid them in half way and made it work for the remainder of the day.  I was careful to keep the prop off the bottom and out of the weeds.  New parts on order as soon as I got home.  Always an adventure :fishing1:.

I found a prop kit a couple years ago for $3.  I got them and happy that I had spare pins.  When I replaced the stock prop with the weedless one, my original pin was broken.  I changed it then.  Those pins just break.

Good fix on the water!!!

Are they just a general kit? Figure I better grab one.

I measured the pieces I had.  The pin is 1/8" in diameter.   You think they would be metric.  Anyhow, I'm looking to get some 1/8 stainless and cut my own.

I ordered the weedless prop while I was ordering things.  The original prop chops weeds pretty well, but if figured what the heck, I'll get that and see how it does.  :Captain:

@Bolar

The weedless prop actually works.  I got in some nasty stuff with the original prop.  I purchased the weedless prop the very next day.  I made a big difference.

made mine out of stainless.the ones from minn kota are junk.youjust keep having to replace them.

I really hate the seat posts in this boat.  I can never get them tight, and when lose they make a terrible noise (LOUD) as I shift in the chair.  I've tried to muscle the posts in, of course they always come lose.  I got a strap wrench, but even then they still come lose :mad6:

So what I have done is drill a 1/4" hole at the bottom of the pole and insert a screw driver to twist the post down tight.  Avoid the set pin that's close by.

It's tight now, but I think over time it will still come lose.  As you can see below only about 1/3 of the thread is used when the pole is all the way in.  I only did the front as an experiment.  I'll do the back if it works better this way.  :occasion14:

clever... Have you tried any blue locktite?  I would gum it up with that stuff.  It will at least give it more resistance.

I want to have the option to take the post out,  for whatever reason.   I'm not sure if locktight would make that too difficult.

dont use the red you will never remove it

I have had good luck so far but earlier in this thread someone mentioned a rubber washer at the base of the post, when tightened down it eliminated loosening and noise, just a thought.

I got my tracker back in October 2018, and it has been great.  This is my first boat. Recently, I pulled the plug out of my boat after about six hours on the water and about 5+ gallons of water gushed out when previously not a drop had spilled out in over a dozen trips. An experienced boat owner told me that while it seems like a lot of water, I am not close to sinking so don’t freak. Water sometimes gets in the boat.  That’s how it is. Next time I go out, it seemed that as much or more water got in the boat judging by the flow when I pulled the plug.  Same guy I talked to the first time was there this time and conceded that it was more than normal but if it was a leak, it was a very small one because, in the grand scheme 5 gallons of water or so isn’t the end of the world.

The next time I go out, I look down the back of my boat for water after about 3 hours. It’s bone dry. When I take the boat out of the water and pull the plug, it’s still bone dry. It’s the same for my last 3 trips out.  Anyone have any idea what I did to get water in my boat?  Both times water appeared, I fished a little later in the day to when the recreation boaters were on the water.  That is the only thing that is different, but I don’t recall any wakes large enough to come close to washing over the side of my boat.

Do you store your boat inside or out? If outside is it possible it could be rain water?

It’s kept in the garage and doubles as a queue for things my wife wants me to deal with. If she wants me to deal with something she sets it on the deck.

I wonder if your drain plug isn’t sealed all the way or defective? You can always put water in the boat and see where it leaks.

I’m gonna bet drain plug not seated properly, grab a new one, they are cheap, I always keep a spare in the boat too FYI. :)

If you slow down too suddenly water will definitely rush into the back of the boat. I noticed there’s always water in my live well. I’ve never used it nor turned on the pump. Driving in reverse shoving water into it from the pick up on the transom?
