  • Snow is expected to overspread northern Michigan after midnight...and continue into Friday morning while transitioning to lake effect snow showers. Locally heavy snow squalls Friday afternoon/evening

  • Oh - but you'd be wrong ~   But we have 'an agreement' - I don't bother them in January and they leave me be in June. Seems to work out for both parties.  A-Jay

I'm a utility locator and I used to do the on-call for emergencies. This time of the year is always crazy with water main breaks. When the frost goes in and goes out is always super busy.

Yes it is busy. I used to work for a municipality and between plowing, making water, and fixing water lines we stayed busy december-february

The thermometer onside my window is reading -25 this morning.

So it's at least 50 degrees 'Warmer' in my freezer.

Still, don't see me throwing it's contents out the window into the snow.

Hope the wind stays calm . . .

:(

Hate to burst your bubble but your freezer runs between -10* and 0*. Warm up is on the way. It's 12 today 25 tomorrow. Should be in your neck of the woods tomorrow or Monday along with about 10ft of lake effect snow

See - I'm always learning stuff . . . .

Thanks for dropping the knowledge and optimistic forecast -

We like the snow - just not real excited about the extended stay of this arctic air mass.

We're having a heatwave! 33 this morning, for cast is for temps in the 40's to almost 50 by the end of the week. Some rain is forecasted as well. By Sunday high temps are in the teens. Translation....our white winter wonderland is going to turn into a slushy nasty mess as everything melts. Then come Sunday everything's going to freeze and one big sheet of ice we'll have. ?

A balmy 25 degrees here this morning as well - it's a tropical heat wave I tell ya. . . . .

Plan on heading into town to restock the Sue-plies. Hoping the rain holds off a bit.

Our weatherman said it's the first time in 3 weeks we've been above freezing and the first time in almost 2 weeks we've been above 20. That's a heck of a cold snap.

On the bright side @A-Jay we've never been closer to spring 2018 than we are night now! ?

@12poundbass Very True my friend - and if it rains enough I might not have to shovel off my roof; which wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit.

Even though the inevitable Re-Freeze - turns this place into something that resembles a Lunar landscape . . . .

Looks like we here in eastern PA might get a reprieve from the cold as well. Tomorrow is suppose to be the first day above freezing since around Christmas time. The local weather forecaster is also predicting 50's by Friday. Not likely though since the closer they get to that day, the lower the predicted temp.

And here I thought this thread was about refrigerators.   I don't know how you folks do it living in that cold weather.

Last night around 11:45 a transformer exploded outside, leaving out block either without power or with on-and-off electricity all day today.  It's currently hovering right around freezing and thanks to freezing rain all day everything is covered in black ice.  EVERYTHING.

In the 40's with rain yesterday-tomorrow. Then a heat wave of 55 to end theweek. Still not enough to melt the 6" of ice of the lakes

Terrible tragedy, right after the wild fires.

? I had never seen part 2. The first one is one of my all time favorite watches.

Sorry, but I can't stand that video.  Either one.

So I’m thinking about trying some punching; so what size sinker do I use for six inches of ice?? At least I don’t have to use tungsten for anything for any sinker over one ounce! Thinking maybe a VMC Anvil might work. Wonder if I can get one in green pumpkin.
