The automatic urinal

On our recent trip to Daytona, and our daughter's home in Georgia, we stopped at a rest area to use the facilities.

I walked into the men's room, and staring me in the face as I walked up to the urinal was a sign.  This was not graffiti as there was a brass plate over each urinal that read, "This is a hands free operation urinal".

So, I walked up to it and stood there waiting to see how it would work.  Shortly thereafter, a fellow walked up to the urinal next to me,  saw the sign and started laughing.

I looked at him and said, don't ask me.  It must be broken.  I've been standing here for a couple of minutes and nothing has happened yet.

He said he walked up to it, not with his back to it.  Duh.

What I was most concerned about was getting pinched by the zipper upper.

I'm from MA, but we were on our way to Daytona.  I believe it was a rest area in Virginia.

I still don't know how they work.  Can you enlighten me as to how the hands free thing works?

I believe that means you don't have to use your hands to flush....you still have to use your hands to get the hose out!

If there were more than two urinals, this would be a serious crime.

If the brass plate was green and corroded, you would at least know the trajectory aspect was set far to high.

True story:  When I was in high school, our football team was on a bus ride to to coast to play Marshfield. We stopped on a little highway short cut for a rest stop.  There was an old service station from the 1930's is serious disrepair but it has a rest room.  It hadn't been updated or cleaned in years.  Above the sink, at least I think it was a sink, some one had written with a felt pen, "PLEASE P*SS ON YOUR HANDS AFTER WASHING. THE WATER HERE IS FILTHY"  I laughed my butt off.  We  lost the game.

There should be a sensor that detects when you step away from the urinal. It then automatically flushes itself.

In other words its a hands free urinal not hands free urination. :dancing1:

I agree, but way safer.

After all what could possibly go wrong with an automated hands free urination system? :surprised-038:

Tom, don't you normally sit down to pee anyway?
