I read a report from Ott Defoe regarding how he found a chatterbait to be an excellent craw imitator when slow rolled  or fished near the bottom . Since most people use a shad or bluegill type trailer on a chatterbait , I never thought about not only what would make for a good craw trailer - but also a craw trailer that would work in harmony / unison with the chatterbait's action to mimic the real (craw) deal ... Your thoughts and experiences regarding the best / your favorite craw trailer for a chatterbait ?

New Yamamoto Cowboy for craw presentation but my go to is the Yamamoto Zako.  

I use the BioSpawn Vile Craw for that exact presentation. I also use the Vile Craw for everything I need a craw bait for. Cannot beat the action that bait has.

X2 on the BioSpawn. One of the best kept secrets out there. It’s definately become my go to flipping bait and also makes a heck of a trailer.

Rage Bug, generally white; and Culprit Incredicraw

Zoom Super Chunk Jr.  I usually try and match the skirt color.

Thanks for the suggestions - I think it counterproductive to have a chatterbait trailer with too much of it's own action thus the super chunk or vile craw are a bit more neutral and would fit the bill ?

I have used rage craw, rage menace, and Berkley pit boss before and have had great success on all 3. If I had to pick a favorite it probably would be the rage menace.

I like a rage tail menace grub

Tried everything and the yamamoto Hula grub works best for me.  I pinch off the skirt head for chatter baits. They make a twin tail grub but I buy the hulas- as I use them for bottom dragging on its own also. I like how the yamamoto plastics add a bit more weight than everyone elses. It helps them cast and get down just a little bit better. 

I have been using a menace grub too for crawdad-ish chatterbaiting, but there are some interesting choices listed here I may try.  Thanks.

I like the Zoom twin tail grub or the ultra vibe speed craw.

The Cowboy if you want a larger profile (and more crawfish looking). I like the Zako more if I wanna imitate a baitfish.

I bought a few packs of these last year but have yet to try them. They look like something out of a sci-fy movie. 

I use the rage craw jr, the small one. That puts the claws just out of the skirt, and gives the whole back half of the chatterbait serious movement. 

I've done really well on a z hog as a trailer. It has a very subtle action but also gives the bait a lot bulk.

I have not....in fact, I realize that I misspoke above.  I have been using Incrediclaw Slim on chatterbaits.  I haven't tried the non-slim version.

As to other applications, I probably wouldn't have considered them.  Only because they remind me of Brush Hogs/Baby Brush Hogs, which (for no good reasons) are pretty far down my confidence spectrum.

Yes, they are similar to the Hog's.
