St. Croix Avid X 6’9 ML XF paired with a Daiwa Procyon 2500.  Love the combo.  Typically this is the only spinning setup I take with me unless it is some sort of odd occasion.

  • I like the old stuff. I can't list just one favorite but I do only fish with one brand of reel and one brand of rod which is Mitchell Reels and Garcia Conolon Rods. All my reels are at least 50 years

  • I have a few but this spring I added a couple of Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS Spinning Rods. Neko Rig & Drop Shot. Matched them with a pair of Daiwa Tatula Limited Edition LT SS 3000-CXH reels

I haven't found my favorite spinning rod yet.  I have found my favorite reel.  I cannot envision me buying any spinning reel other than a Fuego for the remainder of my fishing days.  I've tried quite a few spinning reels and it's the best reel for it's price by far (and you can get them on sale frequently).  I am not (nor will I ever likely be) a good enough fisherman to need anything more expensive than a Fuego.  Although @A-Jay posted some to-die-for set-ups in this thread...but if I had them I'd be afraid to take them out of the house.

Cajun Custom Rods Delta medium power full grip with a Daiwa Luvias 2500.

Daiwa Ballistic LT 2500 with an Enigma HPT 6’11” medium. Used for dropshotting and I love it.

fav: Fenwick HMG 6'6" with RTX 30

beater: lightning shock (new version) 6'6" M with okuma stratus 25

Mine has to be my Abu Garcia Revo rod and reel and combo!

Pflueger Supreme XT on a Shimano Zodias

I don't often fish with a spinning rod, but when I do I prefer to use a G. Loomis WPJR 821s GLX with a 30 size Shimano Stradic CI4. 10# Sufix 832 and some kind of mono or fluoro leader tied on.

Mine is a 7'2" medium Carbonlite with a 2500 Diawa Capricorn and 8lb mono.  Really fun to fish with.

Megabass Destroyer Addermine (6'11" Med Fast) and a Daiwa Luvias 2500 H (with a 2506 Air ABS shallow spool).

St Croix LE 6'10" MLXF paired with a Shimano Vanquish 2500HGS and 6lb Tatsu.  5 lb smallies feel like a swordfish!

The spinning combo in my hand the majority of the time is a custom Croix 5S610MLXF extended to 7' with a Shimano TwinPower 2500HGS.

And my boat motor favorites are a 61 year old Evinrude and a 52 year old Johnson.

6’9” ML First generation Abu Villian with a Tatula 2500

Insanely light and balanced

6' 3" Quantum Smoke ML/F with a Quantum Smoke 30 reel.  A bit short for my liking, but it's great for river fishing, to avoid overhanging trees.  Also, the shorter length makes it easier to make downward snaps with jerkbaits when in a kayak or wading.  I wouldn't have bought the 6' 3", but it was a clearance deal I couldn't pass up.

Megabass addermine or whipsnake with shimano exsence and Daiwa Steez 17 high speed.

How to the two of them compaire in sensitivey and action/power?  I am going to rededicate myself to finesse next season and have been eyeing them both as a do-most finesse rod.

Right now my favorite spinning combo is a SJR 720 IMX w/ a Daiwa BG 2000.  It’s a super fun rod and fishes enough over it’s rating to be a good DS rod for like 3/16oz weights and small plastice.

My favorite spinning setup is an Abu Garcia Villain ML/F with a Pflueger Supreme XT hung under it.  It has awesome sensitivity and like other Abu rods fishing a little heavier than say, my Fenwick Elite Bass ML.

Unfortunately it's buried in the weeds at the bottom of Ponkapog Pond.  I'll save up and grab another one this fall.  Until then my Kistler MG-2 will have to do...
