Hello from Ohio

Featured Replies

Hi! My name is Elijah and Im 14 years old. I have been fishing casually ever since I was around 8. Ive only been seriously bass fishing for around 2 years. I pay for all my gear and tackle and i do not get financial help from my parents. Im saving for a Kayak but currently fish from friends boats, shore or my dads Canoe. Im co angling my first local club tounaments with a friend of the family this summer and would appreciate any advice.

My favorite fishing place is actually the AEP mining land about 15 minutes from my house. Its amazing once you go back in  there with kayaks, camping overnight and never seeing another soul. I think the website says there's 350 ponds on the land.

Anyway, hello from Appalachia Ohio!

Welcome!

AEP may be the best public waters the buckeye state has to offer.  You are fortunate to be so close.

@drew4779 I agree, its a great place that not a lot of people take advantage of, leaving it almost untouched to the few that go further back into the land. Have you fished it? Ive heard some guys are tearing it up right now with a black and blue football head. Before todays cold spell that is....

I'm about 2 1/2 hours away so I only make it there a hand full of times a year but have been going for over 25 years.  I had a buddy post some pics last week of two 5 pound fish he just caught there. This is traditionally when the big gals really start biting at AEP.
