8# XT is .012 D!

8# BG, Sufix Advance is .011

Since both Nanofil and all braids I know of have almost zero stretch, how can one be more sensitive than the other?  I think that while sensitivity cannot be measured, the amount of stretch a line has is a good proxy for sensitivity.  Nanofil is smooth, small diameter, essentially no stretch, but I've found that it shreds easily near the "terminal."  I have found better options with some of the premium braids.  IMHO

I use Excel also. Clear blue flourescent 4 lb. on ultralights, 6 or 8 lb. on 2500 size reels. I don't really use any spinning gear larger than that.

I use 8 and 10 pound test Sufix Siege on spinning gear. casts well and is very strong. no issues with memory or line twist. I use this on a 3000 size shimano reel.

Izorline XXX Super Copolymer!

15lb PowerPro braid to 10lb Sunline Sniper FC with a double uni knot... works great. Good hooksets, no issues with line twist, and you still get great sensitivity. Other than tying the connection knot I have yet to find any downsides of this setup.

I use 15 to 20 lb spider wire stealth braid on all my spinning gear with 8 to 12 lb fluoro leaders.  I like the stealth because its cheap,  readily available and works great. 

Sufix seige or elite for mono. 832 for braid.

I have tried many, many lines the last few years and found to be the best for my use.

I really like nanofil but it frays to easily.

Thanks Tom, yeah I can look that up myself but appreciate the info.

 

I was asking in real world situations, have you had the chance to compare the two lines? Or if anyone else has I'd like to hear your thoughts as well. Thanks

Line should be compared by dia as a baseline. Everything starts with diameter, memory,  strength, abrasion resistance, impact, notched strength and knot strength.

If I labeled the .017 D 20 lb test as 15 lb test the 15 lb still has all the properties of 20 lb.

Yo-Zuri is less expensive then Maxima line, performance compared apples to apples (via diameter) Maxima has better abrasion resistance and knot strength, the main reason I use it.

Have you ever tried izorline? Would like to know how it stacks up against Maxima.

I have used Berkley Sensation with great results as far as line twist go. I did go back to Power Pro yellow with leader just because I need a line I can see. I still use Sensation on my cranking reels and love it. I think it is worth trying. Sensation is a mono line.

20 lb braid to 10 lb flouro. The braid itself helps eliminate line twist and the heavier lb test of the braid helps eliminate wind knots. The flouro is mostly for abrasion resistance.

To the best of my knowledge Izorline is private labeled Andy line and over sized dia per lb test compared to Maxima UG, about 1/2 the price.

I use 8,10,15lb power pro to 8,10, and 12lb Seaguar FC tied with an FG knot. No issues at all. If I fish top water I switch to 10-12 trilene XL mono as my leader.
