Wanted to hear people's experiences with these cooling fishing clothes. Do people have a preference of one over the other? We are heading to some really hot weather so wanted to see what people's choices are.

Been wearing HUK locally but more importantly -  last two trips to Lake Baccarac in Mexico.

Blazing sunshine and air temps in the mid to high 90's and more every day.

Stayed comfortable.

I have - 

Still own a few Simms, some Calelas Guidewear and a bunch of Columbia items.

I do wear the Columbia PFG pants in Mexico routinely but given a choice I prefer and reach for the HUK Gear (tops & outer wear) over the others every time.

Shirts run a little big though so going down a size may be in order.

This is good advice.  I'm 6'4, 235 pounds.  My dress shirt size is a tailored 18/37.  My wife bought me a Huk long-sleeve in XL and it fits perfectly.  That is unheard of for me.  I'm always at least and XXL and usually need a tall size.  

 

I also highly recommend Huk.  We have a heat advisory right now.  I started fishing this morning at 5am.  At 10am I was dripping sweat in a tank top.  I put the Huk shirt on and it felt like it was 10 degrees cooler out.  I also have the neck gaiter I can pull up over my face.  That plus my boonie hat can keep me out on the water much longer in the heat.  

I'm actually not a huge fan of Huk. They have awesome designs, colors, styles, etc but the mesh backing pills almost instantly. To be fair, I only have 2 huk shirts but both did that after day 1. My UA isochills are awesome. I have 3 and they are all great. I'm on the verge of going back to the old school button down Columbia type shirts though. 

I don't have to go down to Mexico to find hot weather & we have been under a heat advisory since the last week of May.

 

You'll hear all the sales pitches about how those brands are better than Magellan...they aint!

Same here regarding the mesh.  It's piled so bad it's a mess.

I have half a closet full - and I'm not seeing any of that.

Columbia PFG is my favorite followed by the new aftco stuff and some simms items. I didn't care for Huk. Not a bad product but the brands I listed fit and feel better. That's what you should be worried about. I'm 6'3 210-220 depending on chinese food ?. I can't stand sun shirts, or shirts in general, that don't have a little extra length in the sleeves and waist. Columbia PFG and Aftco seem to run longer in their Large size so I stick with that. You short folk will be fine with any of them. 

haha so it sounds like the consensus is try and see what you like:P

they are all decent.  I like my Simms ones but haven't tried Huk yet.  key is a decent fit for me since the materials from all of them are pretty similar.  

Carhartt T-Shirt and plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent. If I had to wear long sleeves it would be a button up like @Catt

 

I always wear jeans and boots when bank fishing even in 100 degree heat. It's more for ticks than sun protection. Not the ideal wardrobe for staying cool by any means. When it gets that hot I bring plenty of water and find shady spots to fish.

Another half a closet full of Huk here as well. Love them and have had zero issues either. 

I've got 1 Columbia and 3 HUK long-sleeve t-shirts. Swap off each trip out. I don't notice any real difference between them. They all keep me from getting sunburned and they're all comfortable.
