I love BASS but that weigh-in was torturous . I finally had to leave and go to the store for some vittles .

Change makes us uncomfortable.

I am glad we have additional guys fishing the Classic other than the pros that have fished it for years.

Congrats to Hank Cherry and our Virginia native John Crews for being first and sixth, respectfully.

Now to sit back and see who decides to return to B.A.S.S. this year.

Even with the 3 Canadians in the Classic?!?  That borders on traitorism... ?

I know right! Too bad they didn’t have a good derby. I’m looking for them to bounce back with solid years.

I don’t think this is true. If it wasn’t for the great anglers winning the classic it would just be another derby.

Yup, it's always drawn out that way. Lot's of giveaways and "tributes"....It's mostly designed to get cutaway footage of cheering crowds so they can edit that in for the ESPN show.

Was what all you guys were watching today on a certain TV channel today? Or was it online available for viewing online?

Bassmaster.com has a live stream of it all. Totally free and not too many ads. When a stream is live there should be an icon to select “watch” and you’re in: https://m.bassmaster.com/tournaments/2020-bassmaster-classic

There’s an elite series tournament at chickamauga next week so that’s a perfect time to check it out. The commentary isn’t the most thrilling and the cameramen are usually placed with the more popular fisherman. I still enjoy checking it every few hours on tournament days because the fantasy fishing stuff (also free) is cool.

Actually, a majority of time it was the opposite.  In fact, the first decade, the concern was that the name anglers (Roland Martin, Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston) weren't winning the Classic.  The original thought was that big names had to win the Classic to give it prestige.  Turns out that it was the other way around, winning the Classic gave prestige to the anglers and made them big names.

Many of the big names tend to be the AOY winners because they win the AOY by virtue of alot of top finishes.  However, if you look at the AOY winners over the past 2 decades, only KVD, Ike & Skeet Reese have a Classic win under their belt.  The other big name AOY winners, Amart, Hackney, Swindle etc have never won the Classic.

Hank Parker was the first big name to win, but that was nearly a decade into the tournament.  A few big names won in the 90's like Davis, Brauer & Hite, but that cemented their careers, it didn't bring prestige to the classic.  Most winners are like Chris Lane, Casey Ashley or Randy Howell, where a Classic win makes their career.

From Guntersville lake to Birmingham for a weigh in seems a bit of a travel for fish in a livewell. I reckon since espn owns B.A.S.S. it will go the way of nascar, no longer interesting.

You also have the option to watch the Live stream that has a lunch break and has the commentators following the top guys or the Live Mix that runs raw footage all day with more random anglers talking and the camera guy asking questions sometimes.

ESPN sold B.A.S.S. nearly 10 years ago.

I turned the live stream on Sunday afternoon and they were showing some college weight in or something.  Turned that off and later some girl was singing some song.  Got tired of that and finally said the heck with it and gave up and didn't try again.  It seems like more times than not its hard to find the actual fishing broadcast on their live stream.  Either I'm turning in too late or something but still, year after year I find the bassmaster live stream annoying.

They have a live mix  that started last year . No commentary or commercials . I go back and forth between that , their regular live and basstrac .

Congrats to Hank Cherry, glad he got the win.nice  top ten finish for Newnan Georgia pro Micah Frazier, he’ll be getting himself a Classic title pretty soon the way he’s been hard charging the sport.

My bad. I reckon that shows how well I keep up with tournament trails. Still kind of a shame to haul your catch from Guntersville to Birmingham.

You definitely aren’t  going to sell Much gear at an expo in Scottsboro Alabama compared to Birmingham. Maybe they will come back to Knoxville sometime in the future since the city is right on the river. The one time I overnighted on guntersville, I slept in the back of the truck illegally in a boat ramp parking lot, that’s how good the accommodations are around that lake! There are a few campgrounds and hotels but nothing to support a bass master classic

That is an Alabama hotel, if you wake up with any bugs on you ... free continental breakfast

Done that a few times .

Lol.. I did that in Waterloo, Alabama, on Pickwick lake. I mean the grill the chair, the whole nine. I slept in the back of my truck, no problem. A couple of weeks later, I pup up a tent. You woulda' thought I had committed a major crime.

They had a sign about the size of a car tag that said no camping and I didn't see it. The Waterloo police department must have been really bored.
