I am looking for a 5:1-6:1 reel and can’t seem to find many. Can you offer any ideas? I would love to go with the deal on tackle trap but heard 4.9:1 is a little too slow. I am looking to try to keep it under $300 but can go higher if roi is worth it.  Thanks for your help! 

I use Curado 5-1. They also make a good Arig reel.  I bought them on facebook Shimano Buy Sell Trade.

I throw mine on a Bantam MGL 6.2, but they make a 5 ratio if you want to go that direction. I throw it on a Curado 7 M M Glass rod and I love it. I'm not much of a deep cranking guy, but I enjoy throwing one on this setup.

Tatula 150 has a 5.4:1 offering.

My favorites are the Curado DC (but it does not come a low gear ratio) and probably the best at bringing fish from deep waters, the Abu Garcia Revo Winch.  The Winch's braking is different but once you get it dialed in, it's awesome. 

 

If I had to pick one and if I was buying a new one though........  The JDM Bantam MGL 5.5:1.  I have the high speed Bantam and love it but this reel design to me was made for crankbaits. 

I use a Lews bb1 in 5:1

The Lews bb1 5:1 is a great deep cranking reel, the Diawa 4:9:1 tackle trap special is excellent for deep divers as well, I find that 4:9:1 ratio excels with crankbaits that are 1oz or heavier.

Have you used that reel (Diana)?  I was told it would be too slow and would have a hard time catching up to a fish if it swims toward you.

I just received the Tackle trap reel this week, but I have fished with a 4:9:1 Diawa Lexa 100 for some time now and I have had no issues with fish running to the boat with it, but I don't like the 4:9 for 3/4oz cranks or less, with the 3/4oz or less I like 5:5:1, Shimano makes the Stile SS which is super lightweight and very comfortable to grip, I wish the line capacity was greater but if your throwing braid there is no issue, and as long as you don't go higher than 10lb flouro the reel is amazing.

Revo Winch cranks 10xd's like a squarebill 

I use a Daiwa Tatula CT. It is 5.5:1/23.3" per turn. Wish they made it in a Fuego CT to save some cash.

Daiwa TDZ 103P, 100M, BBS. All great reels for cranking and can be found for a decent price.

The difference between 4.9 and 5.1:1 is negligible. Blindfolded you’d never tell the difference. 

Also in the market for one, I've been looking at the Tatula 150p 5.4.1 or the Revo X Gen4 Winch 5.4.1.

 

Tatula 150 P is my preferred deep cranking reel. Look around , you can find them for just over $100 , brand new.

This.  I just ordered one of these.  

If you can find a Curado E5 reasonable they are about as good as it gets.  The prices the E series reels are bringing  is surprising  but they are great.
