  • Definitely cast further with it over and not under. It's pretty clear in this picture. If you fully understand the purpose of the T-Wing then you'll realize it goes over.

Expert? Never claimed I was...   But, I just went and grabbed a T-wing reel and put the line under the bar.    You see that line angle? I don't even have this reel fully spooled, i

What i posted is an official Daiwa USA video. It confirms it goes over.

Im going with this quality PI work here. Thanks garroyo130.

Under, The line should be in the slot of the T wing not rubbing the top of it.

The line comes off the spool and directly through the T wing not rubbing back and forth across that pin.

It may be the "official" advertising video. But the question remains did they get it right. I'd ask the question does the line rub against the T-wing or the bar when it is fed over? If it does rub, I'd go under for the win.

Shoot you guys are killing me here. Why is this so hard?! Lol

so I’ve tried it both ways. I will say that casting is much easier when I feed it over. With that said, I don’t want to be fraying line or damaging components in any way.

Heck, Call Daiwa USA customer support

Your supposed to drill a tiny hole and go through it.

Just kidding man don't do that. I'm not sure which way it's supposed to go...just wanted to add to the confusion!

I would call or email them for clarification if it was me.

It goes over not under, otherwise what's the purpose of the T wing.....

I'm shocked how split this is from the responses. Like you said, you will cast much better with it over and it will be noticeable when you do it under that it's getting some resistance. Going under I would think would pin the line into the smaller groove of the T wing even when casting, which is not the intent of the design. The intent is it goes through the wider section when the thumb bar is pressed when casting, and through the thinner section when reeling in. I've got 3 T wing reels and I've gone over the bar for all of them. None of them rub, I use braid for all of them, and there is no grooving on my Twings.

Looks like 2 different reels. The one in the pic the poster has looks like the pin is above the T wing.

In the pic Evo put up it looks like its below.

There has been several different models of Tatulas, Maybe the pin is different ?

There is a difference between that pin and the pawl the Twing is mounted to.

So I went back and compared to my Steez CT SV and Zillion SV for comparison. The stabilizer bar is MUCH lower in both of those reels. So much so that there is no way that feeding under could be right. I’m 99% sure it is supposed to be fed over at this point. @evo2s197 also added a picture that pretty much confirms it. Crazy!

I agree with this. I have the Steez CT SV, Zillion SV and 2020 Tatula SV all fed over right now and will say that all three do push the line against the top part of the TWS when in casting position. With that said, I wouldn’t say there is much tension or friction at that point of contact.
