  • Definitely cast further with it over and not under. It's pretty clear in this picture. If you fully understand the purpose of the T-Wing then you'll realize it goes over.

Expert? Never claimed I was...   But, I just went and grabbed a T-wing reel and put the line under the bar.    You see that line angle? I don't even have this reel fully spooled, i

Over. Fullstop.

I am so confused at this point. If it goes over would that mean at the end of a cast when the line level on the spool is low it would be putting quite a bit of pressure on the bar as you retrieve?

Yep, The 3rd pic of the "correct" way shows why it should be under.  The line then has a straight shot from the spool through the T wing. If the line contacts anything between the spool and the guide it's wrong.

But hey, I'll spool em my way someone else can spool as they please.

I would actually say that there is the least amount of tension when the t wing is down on the retrieve regardless of if you feed over or under.

All three of my photos are with the line over the stabilizer bar. The bottom picture is a compact Steez so it definitely looks different but it is the same as far as having tension. I’m with you that ideally there would be no contact between the spool and the first guide. With that said, I’ve fed all three different models over AND then under. Either way the line is contacting something on the open and closed positions.

Definitely cast further with it over and not under. It's pretty clear in this picture. If you fully understand the purpose of the T-Wing then you'll realize it goes over.

People saying it goes under probably hold their spinning setup like this also.

I don't think casting distance one way or the other is the judge of right or wrong..

Are you saying you measured it both ways ?

See above

And yes, you can tell a difference immediately I did it for fun because of this thread to see what I was missing out on, turns out I was missing out on quite a bit of reduced distance.

If your saying it goes over the pin at the top you might want to look again. If your talking about the pin below the t wing then of course it goes over the top

A wheelbarrow probably has too many moving parts for you..

Don't worry one day you'll figure it out.

I was gonna tell you the same ..

Actually you make a loop around it and then you lick it, pull it, put a stamp on it and then twist 6, 7, 8 or 5 times depending on how their schooling...

oh I forgot..your the expert

Some people like it on the bottom and some prefer it on the top, I'm a top man myself.

Trust me I'm wondering also. All you've done is post a pic of a reel I've owned a half dozen of.

Checked a Steez A, Steez SVTW, and a new Tat SV.  On each it 100% has to go over the cross pin.  Going under would obviously add a ton of friction on the cast and retrieve.
