Inexpensive frog rod

Looking for a frog rod in the $60 and under range. I know that's not much of a budget but I don't fish frog enough to merit a high end or even moderate end rod. Any suggestions? I've tried my Berkley shock 6ft6 med hvy and 7ft med hvy...the 6 6 was too short for me and the 7 was a little too soft for my liking

I toss frogs with my 7' Aird-X H/F (AIRX701HFB) and I've been happy with it. This is also my pitch/flip rod and I toss WP-110s on it as well. Fairly versatile rod for being a 'budget' item.

Berkley Shock rod may be what your looking for. $ 50.00 at TW. Never handled one, so not sure if they have a soft tip or not.

The new model is horrible compared to the original. I would not recommend this rod. The plastic reel seat is plain junk.

There are plenty of rods that cost less than $100 that can be used for frog fishing. For over 2 decades I have used Ugly Stiks for frog fishing and I have caught lots of big bass with these rods.

This what I got from TW when I filtered in max price of 65 bucks in a heavy rod.   I'm sure if you look hard enough u can find one cheaper.  I'll do some digging today

I'd blindly suggest the Aird.  I never had an aird but I had the old procyon rods and they were nice for the 60 price range.

Lews carbon fire is always on sale at Dicks. Pretty solid rod for the price. It was my frog rod last year.

For years, when I first got into baitcasting, I used an Abu Veritas 2.0 7'3" MH for frogging and really liked it. It's on the heavy side of power and I used it to toss those 1oz Live Targert field mice with great success along with your standard size frogs.

If you think you can get away with a MH, theres alot of options out there

I have two of the 7'3" heavy, they're a really nice rod- especially for 39.99. Generally if you hit the 50 dollar mark you can get free shipping. Pick up a spool of braid and you're there.

I would spend a little more and get the Tatula XT 7'6" H or 8' H for $89.99 at Sportsmansoutfitters.

Its the rod im currently using and it has performed great. It gets double duty as a carolina rod for me as well. I have it paired with a 8 speed Fuego and 40lb Sufix 832 .

I was surprised by this rods ability to cast.

Dicks Sporting Goods have or are in the process of discontinuing fishing tackle departments. At $60 price point you need to go to stores if possible, shipping is too expensive unless you up the budget or include additional items.

Not all of them - I stopped in at my local DSG before the shutdowns to grab a cheap MH/M spinning rod and they actually had expanded the fishing section a bit. So it depends on the market.

If they're open. Here in MN, they're closed to shoppers but you can order online and get curbside pickup for items in stock at that store.

Had no idea. I just searched for a rod around $ 50.00. Think I'll Stop doing that..lol

Kastking Royale Legend 7'3" heavy does the job for me.  I don't spend a lot on my casting gear so I paired it with an Abu Pro Max.  Great little frogging and medium swimbait set up.

Lew's Carbon Fire 7'3" HF. It's light and it's power and action is great for throwing frogs and converting bites into hooksets. It's a hidden gem at it's msrp of $79 and a steal on sale at $49.

I think I will go with the daiwa aird x 7ft hvy...I've just heard to many good things about them the past few years not to try one. Thank you for all the suggestions.

I was using a 7' 3" H/F Ethos Micro from Academy until this year and it was a great rod for frogging. I have 2 of them I bought for $27 each.
