What types of lures would benefit most from a Hydro-Flo box? That is what this comes down to. This winter I had grand ideas of finally organizing all my tackle. Well other things (and laziness, frankly) came into play but now that I have the time I need to get at it. I bought a ton of Plano 3700 boxes but I also bought two different ones. I bought the Plano Edge jig box for jigs and chatter baits but I also bought one of the Hydro-Flo boxes but for the LIFE of me I cannot remember my thought process at the time. I remember thinking I needed one because there was one type of bait that I really thought would benefit from the air flow. I THINK it was frogs because the water can get trapped inside and all that but for the life of me I cannot remember the specific purpose I bought this for. What type of lure do you think would benefit from a Hydro-Flo box, though?

• I have two Plano Edge boxes and use them.  But in my kayak everything is in a Plano waterproof box.  Mainly because if I drop it while it's still closed, or flip, which has never happened knock on wood, they'll float. 
• You probably bought it for a great reason at the time.......now you forgot.  It happens to me all the time! LOL

I think so too

Baits that hold water that need to dry are good for the Hydraflo. I like them for jigs because of how the skirts hold water and take a long time to dry. It allows air to circulate and the skirts to dry even after they're put away.

I store my jerkbaits in a hydro flo box. After changing out all those hooks I really didn't want them rusting.

Frogs, I too bought one because the bait monkey said so

Pretty much ALL my lures get wet.  All my boxes are HydroFow, with the exception of the few Edge boxes I'm trying.  FOr years, I struggled with rusty hooks.  That problem went away when I started using HydroFlow.

The lures I use either go in a cup holder I bolted on just for that purpose or a small plano box under the seat.  When I get home they get dried out before they go back in the regular Plano box. 

 

I just put my tackle away where it goes.  No extra steps.

It's low humidity in SoCal rusting inside a closed Plano 3600-3700 series boxes is a non issue. Wet lures dry fast usually before I get a chance to put them back at the end of the day most of the time. My hair jigs boxes have 1/8 diameter holes drilled in the tops because they need to breath and dry out completely. When it rains the boxes stay in the lockers after getting out whatever is needed. 

When I put my boat away in the garage just open the storage lockers lids overnight.

Air flow is your freind to prevent corrosion. I would be wary of air tight lure boxes without some type of desiccant.

This is the truth!

I bought one of the 3600 size hydro flow boxes. I use it to put crank baits and spinner baits in that get used so they will dry out before I put them back where they go.I cut part of one of the dividers out to make a place for spinner baits and buzz baits to lay in while drying.

For all you bargain fisherman like myself, they sell the same (almost) non-Hydro-Flo Plano boxes at Walmart for $1.88. If you have a drill you can make 4 for the price of one.

 

Might be a good idea to have a small one as a drying box.

Which is why all my boxes have several packets of desiccant in them. At under $9 for 100 2gm packets...it's cheap insurance.

Those wet spinners gotta dry out somehow?

 

I have two, one for the kayak and one for lures in the boat after they were used to dry before putting them away. I just know from others to be careful picking them up because hooks sometimes poke through.
