Best is always a popularity contest. Your Rod-reel combo is very important to get good walking action with whatever brand of walking lure is choosen.

Right on!

Easy to walk award for me goes to Duo Realis Pecil.

Has a uniquely designed 'ball' on the front of the bait.

Gets plenty of bites too.

Also like the Vixen, the sexy dawg and recenty the original super spook has done some real damage.

Beat me to it.

The 6th Sense Catwalk has really impressed me since it's introduction earlier this year. A plan Super Spook Jr is my Ol' reliable. I bust out my Paycheck Baits Repoman when I want to give them the ol' Razzle Dazzle.

Lucky craft Sammy practically walks itself. Spooks are cool too.

LC Gunfish in chartreuse or ghost  blue shad.

FINALLY!... Haven't carried anything else for about 1/2 dozen years.  95 & 115.  Love the fact I can pop it occasionally during the retrieve if that helps the bite.

My favorite is a Sammy 115 that’s missing an eye. Most of the finish is worn off, but it was Aurora Black. My second favorite is a Popmax. The Python finish has held up better than the Sammy.

I like the Sammy's too, but they are more $$ than the Sexy Dawgs, and I'm not a fan of how they sit tail down head up in the water at rest.  It gives a little more of a bobbing kind of action, but takes a little more to get them started walking than the Sexy Dawgs.

I've caught plenty of fish dead sticking a Sammy.  That resting behavior seems like it's by design.  Pretty sure I paid around $12 for mine.  That was years and years ago, though.  It seemed like a lot then.  Then again, the $25 I paid for my Popmax was well worth it.  Hundreds of bass on that thing, too.

Love dead sticking

seems to elicit violent strikes

Was breaking for lunch one day in a cove and left my gold color Redfin hanging over the edge of the boat about 8 inches out of the water and a bass busted the surface and tried to get that bait, scared the hell out of us lol

Size is important.  Sound is important.  Color and brand don't really matter all that much, so long as it has good hooks.  Also, make sure to use a loop knot or a clip.  You'll get better action if you don't tie directly to the lure.

I typically use Zara Spooks.  Mainly, it's because they're cheap and easy to find.  The one knocker in Pearl Shad is my best producer.  Probably just because it's the one I grab the most often.  To me, walking baits are one of those things where I'll try one, and if it doesn't work, I'll try a popper, prop bait, or buzzbait.  I'll usually switch up sizes and colors when I switch bait styles.  Sometimes if they're ignoring the One Knocker, but I'm getting a little action on the popper, I might switch over to a Spook Jr. without a knocker or something, just to see if it's the action, the noise, the size or the color that made the difference.  If they ignore the Spook Jr., I might go back to the popper and try a different color or try a prop bait.  Basically, I'm just looking for patterns until everything comes together and I find what they like.

My point is, I don't carry a million different walking baits like I will crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs or plastics.  Having a few with some variations are good, but generally if they're not hitting one, they're not going to be hitting the others.

I have the Evergreen SB's in both the 105 and 125 size and they are super easy to walk...and I struggle at times walking the dog so if I can do it so can you . I also have Sammy's, Spooks, River2sea Rover, RI Vixen and just picked up some 6th Sense Catwalks which look fantastic and can't wait to try out. I probably have some more I've forgotten about. Don't forget a walking frog is an excellent walk the dog topwater bait as well!!!

Just ordered a couple Duo Realis pencils in the 65 and 85.  Heard so many great things about their pencils.

Never been a fan of the Sammy.  My favorite is the one knocker spook in bone. Also the megabass pop max ive been experimenting with with great results.
