Custom Painted Crankbaits?

I recently discovered a shop that is 45 minutes from me that produces custom color patterns relating to my regions forage base.  The work, is to me, exceptional. Have any of you die hards added custom baits to your box(s)?

I don’t own any crank baits that aren’t custom painted.  I started fishing them almost 15 years ago- back then the stock colors weren’t as good as they are now- but it’s a confidence thing for me at this point.

I have a small collection, but I have never caught a fish on any of them.

They are too pretty to fish.

Nope.  My beat up crankbaits work just fine.

I have some custom painted but haven’t been able to tell any difference in productivity.  However, a lot of the water I fish tends to be stained.  I feel like custom painted baits would be more important if you have unique looking forage in clear water or if you just can’t get a color you like in a specific model lure that you like.

You're lucky to have someone so close. I might but don't know of anyone. I have two Rapalas that I do real well with that I'd like to tweak a bit and have someone slightly modify. My idea might work real well or be a bust. Who knows. Be fun to try.

There is a guy in Waynesboro that custom paints baits.

Great timing for me for this post as I just ordered a few costom painted cranks, because of the red colors. I plan on using them mainly in the spring, but I throw red baits all season, so I won’t rule them out.
