What do you guys prefer micro guides or regular guides? I've been using a new rod recently and it has micro guides and I have notice a bit more sensitivity and casting distance. 

I would like micros on all my rods.

I prefer small guides.  Not micros.

I've never noticed any difference in sensitivity.  I doubt there's any way to measure or prove it anyway/  One thing I forgot to mention, limp braid is actually harder to get unwrapped from micros than standard guides, and that NEVER happens when pitching jigs, lol.  

I don’t like micro guides. I fish a lake on vacation while the cotton wood trees are laying down those cottony fibers all over the lake that get on my line and clog up the guides. When that is happening, I don’t even string up any rods with tiny guides.

Regular.

I bought a BPS rod with micro guides this winter, and had to learn to tie the FG knot just so I could have a fluoro leader.  I much prefer regular guides.

What @J Francho said, they seem to get wrapped up with braid really easy. 

I too prefer regular-sized guides. I bought a Tatula elite "skipping jig" rod online, not realizing it had micro guides. I had some issues using braid with a flouro leader because of the itty bitty guides and decided to go pure flouro, not realizing straight flouro - for me and my poor skipping skills - was not the best choice for my skill level (lots of backlashes). I thought flouro would be better abrasion-wise around wood. I'm thinking of trying mono in the setup or trying again with braid and flouro with an FG knot. I typically use double-uni for all my freshwater leaders, but can tie an FG just fine as I use it for my big surf rigs all the time.

Small guides, don't care for micro guides, even though I don't use a leader.

No micro guides for me

I've been casting crankbaits with 8 lb mono line, and have not had any issues so far.

I have had rods with both small guides and micro and don't see a benefit from either one.   The micro guides on one rod I have might make it a little more sensitive but I have no way of knowing it.  

 

I also wouldn't go out of my way to buy a rod with micro guides either. 

The 1st micro guide rods I owned were custom jig & worm casting rods by ALX and like them.

Don’t use leaders with micro guides,  no issues.

Sensitivity is directly correlated to how much you paid for the rod.

So a 200 dollar rod cannot be as sensitive as a 400 dollar rod ? Definately disagree. I love micro guides but I don't use leaders.

If I had a choice, I prefer conventional sized or near conventional sized guides. Biggest complaint about my Kistler KLX is the tiny guides. Awesome rod. Guides are too small.

I don't know that I can think of any examples in those price ranges, but I have seen $150 rods that were about as sensitive as $20 rods, so they do exist.

I can, but I won't mention names

Six and one half dozen.  I use an FG knot for leaders anyway, and I don't feel as though micro guides add anything to the rod.  I have rods with both, and the only time I really notice the difference is when I go to restring the line through the guides.  I'm more concerned with the material of the inserts and the number and placement of the guides.
