Anyone use one of these?  I'm not trying to humble-brag, but I've caught so many bass in the last two days that my thumb was bleeding from lipping so many fish.

 

I tried using tape to keep going, but it kept coming off.

I'd skip the thumb guards. If you keep catching fish like that you will eventually develop calluses... I'd go that route  

I had to resort to wearing one of these on my left hand a few years ago after three days of the best bass fishing I've ever experienced. My left hand was one big sore rasberry from the pad of my thumb to the middle of my palm. I also had a NASTY bruise the size of a grapefruit on my ribs from all those sweeping hooksets. IT... WAS... AWESOME!!! 

You are either catching little fish and don't have an option or you are handling them wrong. Never put the thumb print part of your finger on the bottom lip, stick it further down into the mouth past the knuckle and bear down. You should not be letting a 2lb bass shake in your hand. If you squeeze hard enough it won't be able to move. Guys on MLF/BPT are catching a TON of fish and I have never seen a thumb guard. Didn't even know it was a thing actually. 

 

EDIT - You can also grab them around the back and remove the hook. But you might get finned and bleed that way as well.

That’s how we grab walleyes but if you don’t have a good grip that spike will get you on their back dorsal fin.

Squeeze harder and point your thumb up.

Lip enough of them and your gonna get tore up no matter how you grab 'em. Then you'll adjust your grip because of the sore spot and that spot that's contacting the lip will get tore up too, and you'll adjust again. It's a good problem to have. Enjoy it while it lasts.

These are really different than a regular bandaid. Won't slip off. 

 

 

I am of....big stuff gets netted and on the deck.  Then the long S S hospital forcipes to remove the barbless . Even if partly out of sight in the stomach folds.

Also, try the Band Aid Flex Fabric band aids. Those suckers stick like glue.

LOL!!! It doesn't happen often around here!!! April 2019, 30-50 per day for 3 days straight at Clendening, with a 2#+ average. Water was mid 50's and they were just starting to flood shallow rock structure all over the main lake basin. My boy caught his first TWO 5# on the same day. Crackin a 4" stupid tube.

I never catch enough bass each day to need any protection.  

Quake & Shake is a O K way for a UNREAL amount of bass.  I do not fish bass beds. So small numbers for me in the spring.

 

I did once ALMOST lip a pike. Used all my bandages  after he did a couple of attempted Death Rolls.  I still use the 12" long pliers.    Fish 1 Rich 0

Spotted bass beat up my thumb. I kinda like it tho. 
 

if it’s problematic, Leukatape is what you want to use. It’s an athletic tape used to wrap muscle groups. I use it for backpack blisters on my feet  It will stay on my feet for weeks it’s waterproof.  
 

 

I wear a lightweight mechanics glove on my left hand to help with my grip due to some minor nerve damage in my left arm.  Helps me hold the rod and fish.  No bass thumb is an added bonus.  

The more tore up the thumb the more better .

I'll second that. There should also be a bass thumb sticky thread.

I wear sun gloves that do a good job protecting my thumbs while protecting my hands from UV rays. Always have the option not to lip them and just grab them around the head or body instead.
