KP Duty
With soft plastics getting more and more expensive, I'm considering saving all my used/torn baits and melting them down when I get a stockpile. Besides elaztech, do regular soft plastics melt down nicely to pour into molds?
Chris Catignani
Yes.
Super User Deleted account Posted February 26, 2022 Super User Share Posted February 26, 2022 As long as it's plastisol, yes. Things like elastech, powerbait, and the like may not play nice. Use your wife's best Williams Sonoma measuring cups and spatulas and melt it in the Viking built in microwave, they like that...
Super User Jig Man Posted February 26, 2022 Super User Share Posted February 26, 2022 You can do it but unless you have enough to have it in separate colors you may end up with brown.
Mat_ski
As long as the material it’s made of is a thermoplastic

Yea....I figured it would end up brown, but was thinking a gold metal flake would spice it up.
SmugOne
I save all my plastics, cut them into small pieces, and separate them into like colors. When I am ready to make a batch, i usually mix the small pieces in with some fresh plastisol and will add some heat stabilizer.

Super User Munkin Posted February 27, 2022 Super User Share Posted February 27, 2022 No Elaztech or Berkley baits anything else should be fine. Allen
