Super User roadwarrior Posted May 15, 2022 Super User Share Posted May 15, 2022 Anyone fished the lake recently?
Super User FryDog62 Posted May 15, 2022 Super User Share Posted May 15, 2022 I was there late April so probably not very current for you. Look up Del Colvin on YouTube - he posts a very detailed fishing report on Bull Shoals about every 2 weeks. You can look up the week you're going from prior years as well. I found his reports very helpful when I was there ?
rangerjockey
It's about 20ft. high. Seems like the Corp has been pulling a lot of water from Beaver into Table Rock and holding it in Bull Shoals. Not unusual, but you may want to check on finding an open ramp.

Super User roadwarrior Posted June 5, 2022 Author Super User Share Posted June 5, 2022 Got lucky with the weather and the fish! My brother and I caught over 100 smallmouth, 6 walleye and a dozen largemouth. The brown bass were all 2-3 lbs and my biggest green bass was around 4 lbs. Caught a few on the GYCB Kreature, but the vast majority were caught on a Gitzit.

Super User FryDog62 Posted June 7, 2022 Super User Share Posted June 7, 2022 Sounds good. Curious how the overall size of the brown bass compare to your local waters like Pickwick this time of year? I went to Bull Shoals this Spring and have thought of returning next year, or possibly down your way instead. Thx!
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 7, 2022 Author Super User Share Posted June 7, 2022 TN smallmouth are generally larger and occasionally MUCH larger. A few years ago my guide, Tim "hotdawg" Curtis, and his friend came over to Pickwick for two days. I put them both on Personal Bests, 7.4 lbs and 6.75 lbs. For numbers you don't need to travel. However, your chances for a 6+ are much greater on the Tennessee River. I recommend November when the weather is more consistent and the big girls have the feed bag on! November is still autumn in the Mid South.
rangerjockey
So, you are saying 100 + Brownies and none under 3 pounds? If you can replicate that you could make a fortune guiding on Bull Shoals.

They are kind of root beer colored and I use a chartreuse marker on the tail . Smallmouth love the things . Caught some largemouths on it just yesterday . Yes, we do catch numbers here in Minnesota but since our season doesn’t open in the spring until mid-May I’m very willing to drive to find good fishing in March/April. November could be a possibility too since that’s about when we ice up. Definitely have Pickwick and Tenn waters on my radar!!
