as a sheet metal worker, i always make jokes about die hard. the scene where he crawls through the ductwork is sooo not possible.  there's no screws poking through,  no turning vanes in the elbows, and no security bars.   there are no motor operated dampers, no fire dampers, no humidifiers , probes, or other equipment that would definitely be in there if it were duct in an airport. it's also not filthy inside, which it would definitely be irl

Great Classics in no particular order:  Remember the Night; The Man Who Came To Dinner; Holiday Affair; Meet Me in St. Louis; The Shop Around the Corner.  They're not "must-sees" for me now because I've seen them many times.  Maybe one of them might become a "must-see" for you!

I was scrolling this thread to see if any one mentioned Remember the Night before I chimed in. Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck. Not as well known as the others but one of the best. And for me it has an Indiana theme.

A Christmas Story, Elf, and Christmas Vacation for the newer movies.  The Miracle on 34th Street the one with Maureen O'Hara, It happened on 5th Avenue, and Christmas In Connecticut for the older movies.

Home Alone

Elf

Polar Express

The Santa Clause

ALIEN. We saw it about 35(?) years ago when my wife was a week overdue and we were trying anything to get her to pop. Around Christmas. Must have been holiday blockbuster time. Anyway it didn't work but we check it out  most holidays. It's a family tradition.

Favorite line:  “Hey, Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?”
Vasquez:  “No. Have you?”

This one needs to be added to the canon of great American holiday movies.

At this point, I'm basically paying a couple hundred a month so I can turn on and watch Turner Classic Movies at any time.  Plus a few other programs, but real-time TCM is worth it for me.

Anyway, the film is All Mine to Give, 1957.  No major stars, unless you remember Glynis Johns as the Mother in "Mary Poppins."  But flawless acting all around, a beautiful background musical score, combined with a great heart-wrenching family story that culminates on Christmas Day.  If this one doesn't get you, check your pulse.

It's 10:40 PM here right now (we're on GMT), I just got home from Christmas dinner at my mom's place, and I'm watching the one movie I've watched every single year since I moved out on my own.

A slice of traditional Portuguese king cake, hot mint tea, and my second favorite John McTiernan movie (after The Hunt for Red October)

Gotta watch

“ Fatman”… it’s a different kind of Christmas movie.

My wife likes hallmark / lifetime Christmas movies, and convinced me to watch a couple of them. I can tolerate the ones with outdoor themes, so one of the ones we saw this year was “ Christmas in the Rockies” It was basically just like an episode of “heartland” with different characters. Also watched “ Christmas miracle at sage creek, which is a good western .

I usually watch “ A Christmas story”, if nothing else but to see the kid beat up the bully, the bumpus dogs eating their turkey, and the chinese restaurant part…?
Oh, and I watched both the “ Home alones”  …?
