@Born 2 fish it says "Shipped" on your order?

It says shipping to the location I ordered it from. I’m picking up at the store it’s not shipping to my house. We’ll see what happens fingers crossed.

UPDATE!!! SORRY EVERYONE but Photobucket wants me to spend 399 dollars to host my pictures...I just refuse to do that!  You can still check the pics out with this link: http://s709.photobucket.co

  • Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some o

Interesting developments today coming out of the cabelas camp, got a couple questions answered about the shipping charge and the conflicting restock dates.

My boat finally arrived yesterday (ordered May 3), so at least you know they are still manufacturing them; you'll get it eventually.  It's very frustrating, believe me I know.  I wish I would have had it for the spring fishing season.

Choppertime, very authoritative, I think I'll go and grab a battery box. I guess I'm not smart enough to figure out how to PM you, but I'll keep looking. I wasn't exactly sure what you meant about the connectors. But do you think this should do the trick? https://www.amazon.com/SEACHOICE-13751-Trolling-Motor-Straight/dp/B000N9MF92/ref=sr_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=trolling+motor+3+prong+plug&qid=1582653610&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-18

I never saw a reply to Neil's question above.  Is the product in the link the correct plug choice to splice onto the trolling motor wires?

Yes. Walmart usually has them also.

Nice man! Where did you order from, Cabelas or Bass Pro?

Not that there's much of a difference.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I need to ask...I just read a review that said the Bass Raider has 8 gauge wiring.   The plug I asked about earlier today (below) says it is 10 gauge.  Is that OK that its a larger gauge than the Pelican wiring?  I know nothing about anything electrical.

10 gauge wire is actually smaller than 8 gauge - larger the number, smaller the diameter (speaker wire is usually 18 gauge for reference). Depending on how much current you're running and the distance between the battery and the motor - the larger the diameter of wire the better. I'd find a plug with 8 gauge wire instead of that one.

I am planning helping my friend build a casting deck for his pond prowler. It looks like the most common size of plywood to use is 3/4”. We would like to make it as light as possible so is it necessary to add any bracing under the plywood for added strength? Thank you for your help.

The wait is over. It’s in my garage I picked up my boat after work today!

Yes, you'll need to brace it.

Why does cabelas keep saying different things? We're lucky if we get our boats by august when the season is %@$#ing over!

@Born 2 fish @John St for you bass pro guys who just got your boat, I was just wondering; did y'all get email confirmation that the boat shipped before receiving it?

You can check your order # mine said it was shipping. And a few days later I got a email saying my order is ready for pick up. But I did pick up at store. I did not have it shipped to my house.

Let me second the need to brace it.  It gives you a sturdy surface that doesn't flex.

It may be difficult to have both a light boat & a deck, you may need to choose between one or the other.  I chose the latter because I don't take my boat out of the water, I added a ton of mods.  If you are going to launch out of the back of a truck & need as light a weight as possible, I'd recommend keeping it as simple as possible.

That's my thought. I bought a 8.5 Sundolphin. I want to keep mine as light as possible. I just want to be able to huck it into the back of the truck and go. If I'm going to have to deal with a trailer I'll take my 14' Jon boat.

I recently built a deck for my Bass Raider and I love it but it definitely adds weight and it does need bracing underneath. I can still put the boat in the back of my truck with a friend no problem, but doing it alone is a challenge unless you take the deck out before loading and unloading. Since I want to be able to take it out with no problems I bought a trailer for it so that I wouldn't have to worry about taking it apart when I'm by myself. For the deck I used 3/4 plywood with 3 short 2x4 underneath that was also attached to a 6" 3/4 plywood for support. it weighs about 35lbs

WOW!!! $119.95...how many did you buy?

Yea I would buy it for $150. It looks to me as having real possibilities, if you like to tinker and build things. The frame itself looks to be good...in the pictures. The wiring, lights, bunks, etc. can easily be redone to fit what you want. I would probably put a flat deck on it with roller bunks first 4 ft. so I could just walk out on it when it's backed in the water. Throw on a new set of tires and wheels, don't forget to replace the bearings, and you're ready to fish.

NOW...here's the kicker...you said the trailer doesn't have a title. If the trailer is close to you, I would look closely to see if there is a data plate on it somewhere and try to clean it enough to get any numbers off it, if it isn't handy go to step 2. Second I would spend some time on the phone with your state's DOT and tell them about it to see if getting a title and plate would be possible or a real problem. Then you can make an informed decision. States range from A. "no problem, you don't need a title or tag on a boat or utility trailer" to Z. moron stupid laws and enforcement on trailers. Know every detail before you pull a penny out of your pocket!

I'm done with the trailer! It was fun to work on but the day I went to the DMV to register it they tell me that the regulations had just changed for the state of Texas... I told them I had called 3 weeks ago to get information and was told all I needed was $69, a signature from the seller and a notarized letter saying it was homemade. They said "TODAY everything changed, lucky you". It was a long process took 3 days to get done. I had to get the trailer inspected by an investigator at the Sheriffs office, that required an appointment and cost $40. Then I had to get another appointment go to the State and apply for a VIN. Then I could finally register it at my local tax office. I just got my license plate today and should receive my title in a few weeks. Long registration process and double the price I was expecting compared to what I was told but the good thing is its done with and I can finally take it out to the water.

Has anyone added a scupper hole to the bass raider?

I know people have added scuppers. I plan to do so, and actually bought a drain plug today at Academy.  There is a guy on youtube that did so and sealed it with rubber gaskets that are basically like big hose washers.  I am afraid those would wear out and get brittle over time.  Most people use 3M 5200 marine sealant; you can find descriptions of how they did it somewhere in this thread; I will be looking for those posts again myself.

So I just took delivery of my Bass Raider last week, and I decided I wanted to mount my TM to the bow, and put a plug on it to plug into the receptacle in the bow.  However, I don't know much about electric work, so I decided to have the pros do it, and took it to a marine dealer.  I showed them a picture of the female receptacle, which has three holes, apparently for a three-prong plug.  Well I picked it up when the work was done, and when I got home realized they put on a two-prong plug.  At first I screamed *****!, but then realized I was able to still plug it into the receptacle.  I tested it, and it worked.  Does anyone with experience with this stuff think I should be concerned about using a two pronged plug in this receptacle?

Also, does anyone know if you can charge the battery while it is in the Minn Kota Power Center box?  I was a little nervous about the lack of ventilation, so I took it out of the box, but I'm not sure if that was necessary.  I am new to this boating stuff, and have much to figure out.

I saw the video but I was looking into doing something a bit different. I’ll look for the posts. Congratulations on your bass raider! As far as the plug I just bought one from amazon and connected it to my motor it was very simple. I’m not sure about the 2 prong causing problems. For the battery box, I charge my battery by connecting to the Minn Kota Power Box and never had a problem.

no clue why pelican has a 3 prong receptical on their boats when theres only 2 wires that are in it....your good to go with the 2 prong plug......I have always charged my battery with the minn kota box attached...kinda the way they designed it so you don't have to unhook and take the top off, but I still take the top off and go straight to the battery posts to charge the battery...seems like it charges quicker
