Hulkster
Only problem was, I had fished for hours with my actual muskie setup, and I took a break from it, picked up my Loomis Imx Pro Bass rod (7'6 MH) cast da mepps and wham. go figure lol Cast Da Mepps!
Super User Further North Posted September 18 Super User Share Posted September 18 Congrats! I've caught dozens of muskies on bass-sized tackle, including a #5 Mepps. You don't need big stuff to catch them. I'm not terribly fond of seeing that fish laying on a wooden dock though...

Super User gimruis Posted September 18 Super User Share Posted September 18 There is an episode of River Monsters when Jeremy Wade is at Eagle Lake, Ontario. He muskie fishes for almost 2 weeks with nothing but small pike to show for it. His body is exhausted and his mental status is fatigued. He finally just gives up, and goes trout fishing with a medium spinning setup to gain some confidence back. Only then does he hook into nearly a 4 foot muskie and miraculously lands it.
