I was wondering which type of braid you all use....Please list details such as wear etc.

Well I have used Power pro , Tuf Line XP, P-Line spectra IV, Stren Super Braid.IMO, the Tuf line XP was the best of the braids, with P-Line running a close second.The Tuf line is flatter than the other braids, which isn't a problem, but I did notice on the soft bite days Tuf Line boated more fish for me because when the fish started applying pressure to the line , it squeaked on the guides allowing me to detect the strike and set the hook before the fish let go.I found it especially useful when jigging the 10-14 ft weedbed depths.Power pro was very noisy when pitching, but it worked well cutting through the weeds . The P-Line kept its color the longest of any braid I have tried and seemed more limp to pitch with and was quieter through the guides than power pro.They all would bind in the spool upon hookset which isn't a problem if you unbind the spool before the next cast.Wear is easily detected on all the braid I used, the line started to fray up the leader, I cut about 18 " of braid off and retied and never had a break off problem other than the toothy critters on the hookset.I didn't notice one brand being better than another,I did have the same spool of Tuf Line on a flipping stick for 4 years, I am seriously thinking of going back to mono after breaking a flipping stick tip off with braid, I think it wrapped around the rodtip and I didn't see it  before I set the hook and snapped the rodtip.Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :)Ivan

I forgot the Stren. It worked well except for the line color would bleed off on my clothing as I held the rod against my body while getting the jig from the fish.It did seem to want to wrap around the rodtip more so than the other braids, but that may have been the way I was pitching the jigs. I use a around the world underhand pitch motion to get the jig in motion on my pitches.Given slack line, it will wrap on the rodtip easily. I hope this helps, BTW, I am the only one who seemed to have the line bleeding problem, It may be caused from the Catcher brand smelly jelly scent I use on my jigs, other than P-Line & Stren, the other 2 brands turned white from use, but Stren is the only braid, I noticed bleeding off on my clothing. I have sufix 40# on everything I own.  Doesn't dig in as much as others, holds it's color fairly well, sounds less like a tow truck winch cable, and has virtually eliminated backlashes.  I've used them all and will remain faithful to sufix.

If I need to use braid. You can bet I am using Powerpro. However I am mostly a mono, flouro type guy.

powerpro was the standard by which all other braids were rated.that has changed and now sufix braid is #1.i use 65 and 50 exclusively.it is smoother and makes less noise.it doesn't dig in unless you get stupid with it.it holds it's color better than pp.that really doesn't matter to me as i color mine black on the last 6 feet anyway.

Agree, I was a Power Pro fan now I'm all Sufix, best braid out there.

My personal preference is Cabela's Ripcord (Micro Dyneema 65) it has higher shock absorption, lower stretch, and stronger than Spectra. Ripcord is not a stiff as most Spectra lines this causing the dreaded tip wrap which I've found to be caused by the way one casts. If you cast with your rod tip instead of trying to power your cast with your arm strength this problem is minimized.

Whatever you do, don't use fireline.  That stuff is sooooo stiff and all this black coating comes off on your hands.  This was my first braid to practice on BC and my hands just turned black like I just changed the car oil.

Hey Bream Master, did you say, "Fired Line" ? :-) LOL I hated that stuff too.

Anyway, I have used Gorilla Braid (total garbage... but still better than mono.... This is what I cut my "braided line" teeth on) Fenwick Iron Thread. Spider Wire (good but too expensive... ya' gotta know your paying for all of their advertising) Cabelas Rip Cord (braided dyneema.... interesting..... okay stuff I guess.... but expensive. Knots seemed to slip easier than with braided Spectra) Power Pro (guess I got a bad spool).

Which brings me to TUF-Line XP. The only line I use now (besides some of my older backstock of TUF-Plus) for everything from 2/10 lb, to 130 lb.

Now, in all honesty, yes, I love my TUF-Line, and I do believe it is the best overall value in braided line today. However, the difference between most 'true braided spectra lines' is pretty slim. On the other hand, the worst braided spectra I know of, is night and day better than the best stretchofilament... err... I meant coilofilament .....uhhh, I'm trying to say..... kinkofilament... Ahh forget it ;-)

I have been using power pro but plan to switch to suffix based on my findings on this board.

Hear we go again. I like the Cabela's Ripcord SI & SI Plus and that's all I'm going to say the choice is yours that's just my 02.

just out of curiosity, do you use your Cabelas Rip Cord on spinning or baitcasting gear ? I used it on spinning, and it certainly had a lot of the great features of a true braided line. Very thin. Very strong. Very sensitive. I remember though, that I did have more unexplainable knots develop in it, and also knots seemed to slip easier.

I was using the super micro stuff though, 2/10 lb I think.

But anyway, it was 1000 X's better than any mono on the market. I'll give it that :-)

Me too, but am only using it on one rod. I have really liked the braid so far and may start using it on more of my set ups.

can not recall a single problem, ever. Sometimes when you

get hung up it seems almost impossible to break, but that is

not really a bad thing.

Yes, I do use it on spinning gear. Getting twisted line knots out is easy if that's what you meant. I have never had a tied knot slip I do use a Palomar Knot though.
