For some of you might know we have 3/4 acre pond which we stock 14 bass and 12 death unfortunately , We add two more bass and they survived, For now we have 4 bass and hopping that some have lay egg(Amen :))

When that happened I saw that I have very good area that I can put a very special bass heaven in there by 1 acre.

We started two months ago and get bids from contractors and also some recommendations here, BUT found out the permit is not easy and we need to do a lot for HOA and city permit. last week was finally first physical work which getting the soil sample and everything was so good and promising. Our engineer was worried about having large stones under the property and we were lucky and we had non. Still long time to get the permit and start digging the lake, But just wanted to share everything with you guys. I am open to any suggestions and appreciate any advice.

ok guys we hit the first wall, Because elevation and leech line we force to have lake on half acre, but I am thinking to make it 12 feet deep aside from 6 feet so it will be the same amount of water. I want to ask you, is it going to be a good bass pond or it is too small?

Ive read all the pond projects here at Bassresource.com and so far, everyone have 4 acre or 5 acre lake build in the property. thats making me nervous.

Don't think the size is a problem, proper maintenance is.

Yeah I would think it could easily hold huge bass if managed meticulously.

As long as there's cover and food the bass will be just fine. I occassionally go to a neighbors 1/2 acre pond to fly fish for gills and bass. Probably only a couple over 20" in there, but a bunch of gills and buck bass.

If you haven't taalked to a pond guy yet, Pond Boss in Texas (Bob Lusk) is very well known. Has a forum too.

Everything comes down to the quality of your water source.

Water needs to flow in and out constantly to keep the dissolved oxygen and ph optimal to support a healthy prey to predator ratio.

There's a guy on the tube, Bamabass, who built a very impressive pond that he stocked with bass. You might already know about him but, if not, definitely worth checking into. He chronicles the entire project from start to finish. Seems like he had a lot of similar obstacles and overcame each one. From what I'm seeing, the bass are currently thriving. He's actually fishing for them now, catching them and tagging them. I'm sure he'll be more than willing to share information to anyone interested.

I've watched some of his videos and it seems like he has infinite money.

Indeed he may. Even still, it's a very detailed project that the OP might find interesting. Seems like a stand up guy, more than willing to help others.

I've been recommending BamaBass since I joined here, it's the single best YT channel out there imho.   Think I told OP to check the channel out in his first thread.

The dude has built a true dream, a testament to mankind's ability to shape a small piece of nature into his will.

And yes, it costs a small fortune to create what he's created.   It also cost a small fortune to build any 5acre pond specifically made to grow DD sized Bass.

ETA:  He started out just catching fat Bass in Alabama, and as his channel grew he doubled down in it by investing his adsense revenue into this project.     By doing so he ended up recruiting a massive audience that for the most part would have never subscribed to fishing content alone.

He's also brilliant at understanding how to use YT and other influencers/creators to grow his/their brand.   The new pond he just built with Aquascape is a great example of this.   He likely paid a fraction of the cost for that new project because he hosted an aquascape workshop and formatted the project so that both his channel and two other channels got big views from it as well.

If either of us that small fortune, we'd do the same thing with it, although at my age, I might buy a small lake and work with what's there to take me to great fishing sooner.

Amen Katie, there is nothing in this world I'd rather do than build a small Bass fishing lake.

Stand up guy! Can learn a LOT from that dude. I got a kick out of his pet bass Moby. I remember when he first caught that fish. It was no bigger than his is pinky finger. The lure was twice as big! The appetite of that fish was utterly amazing, eating everything in site and then some. What I found interesting about Moby: it had its own unique personality. Unlike some of his other pet bass, Moby was totally phyco and overly edgy, almost invincible in the way it consumed food, sometimes jumping out of the tank and slamming onto the floor without so much as a hiccup. Says a lot about bass behavior, in general. Each fish out there can have its own, unique and very peculiar personality. So catching them may require very creative off the wall tactics.

He makes everything look so effortless, and the depth of everything he does for content is to the max.

Most people I've talked with including a best buddy who owned an aquarium business says Bass are incredibly difficult to keep in aquariums.

He's got a beautiful family, beautiful rural property, a DD Bass factory, a tractor I'm sure.......he's won at life!   You're right though, with all of that he remains incredibly humble unlike some of the other YT channels I've followed as they've gotten bigger.

Plan is to have one surface Aerator and one sub surface Aertor and one waterfall, It will have intake pipe from two wells  (5000 talon/hour Capacity), And the well water is the same we are drinking. Thats the plan so far.

The water source is extremely important in SoCal. You have drinkable well water supply is  perfect.

Livingston Sand and Gravel Co where 210 Fwy crosses Tujunga wash had 4 small deep spring water ponds with bass populations. The water supply pond was only 1 1/2 acres  and 30’ deep where the pump extracted water for the sand & gravel plant. This small pond had a good population of big Northern strain bass up to 12 lbs. As a teenager fished this pond for a few years catch & release. The plant is gone now but my point is deep cool good water with a food supply was the key to a big bass population. The Livingston ponds had suckers, green sunfish and crawdads as I recall.

Good luck with your project.
