13????? I’m jealous. Ours is one of the highest in America.

A regular residential angling license is 26 bucks here.  I buy the conservation one because I don't keep very many fish.  Its half the price and allows me to keep half the daily bag limit (for example, the daily bag limit of crappie is 10, so mine would be 5).  The majority of time I am bass or muskie fishing and those are released.  If I did more panfishing or walleye fishing, I'd buy a normal one instead of a conservation one because I'd keep more of those.

I know you fish a lot.  I'll bet even with a higher cost for a license, if you divide that out by the number of times you go fishing, it would be very cheap.  Probably even less than mine because you're able to fish most of the year, whereas I can only do it for about 6 months.

This thread prompted me to see what I pay.  Crap...apparently I didn't pay anything last couple months.  I have been spoiled by VA with regular renewal notifications.  Apparently, NC doesn't do that...unless they went to Spam Folder.  So, just cleared that up; $25 online, with $5 processing fee added, so $30.

I just got mine (minus the trout stamp) and I had to click no on 6-8 pages asking for different forms of money before it would let me checkout . I think you could rack up a couple grand if you like to hunt and have durable hard cards 😂 . I used to get a trout stamp every year, that puts your annual resident fees close to $60. Hunting is too rich for my blood

Once you hit 70 in NJ you are exempt from needing a fishing license or trout stamp. Just need to carry proof of age.

Every year I consider a liftetime license and then I think "nah what if I move for a better opportunity or family in the next 10 years". Then the year passes and I think about it again next year.

Been doing this for 7 years and would almost break even soon if I had done it from the start.

$25 for inland

$41 inland and coastal

$53 sportsman (non coastal)

$61 sportsman w/ coastal

$530 sportsman lifetime (non coastal)

$716 sportsman/coastal lifetime

$5 convenience fee for online. I dont go in person because I hate dealing with people.

Generally speaking, a resident hunting license is pretty close to a resident angling license (depending on what you are intending to hunt).

I pay 33 bucks for small game (pheasants and grouse), 34 for deer (firearms), and 34 for spring wild turkey (firearms) each year here.  So right around 100 dollars each year to hunt.  I think that's pretty reasonable.

Its when you start buying non-resident licenses, especially for big game, is when the costs soar.  Lottery-drawn non-resident hunting licenses are very expensive.

I bought my 2024 fishing license about a month ago.  No surcharge yet.

@TnRiver46 I agree they bombard you with the extras. I wish TN would do like KY and offer a fishing only license,I don’t hunt, as well as the three year option. I sent TWRA an email about it a few years back but never got a response. At least they did change it to expire exactly a year after you buy it.

The TWRA has some problems.  About 20 years ago I didn’t get the renewal notice for my boat registration.   I went in to the region office,  handed the lady my old card and said I wanted to renew my boat.   She pulled it up on the computer and ask me if I still had the boat.  Well it was in the garage when I left this morning I said.  She said it was registered to someone in Milam Tennessee.  I got a little upset that they had given my boat away.   She said don’t worry it happens all the time and gave the boat back to me.  😆

You only have to turn down a few dozen extra items before continuing to checkout……… my phone overheated
