Pat Brown Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Honestly Justin Hamner is impressive and I'd love to see him continue to grow the sport of bass fishing and win some more derbies! Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 25, 2024 Author Global Moderator Posted March 25, 2024 But all you need is a bunch of sissy crappie poles and a sack of minners, I read it on the internet. Ain’t nobody crediting their Mercury engine or Hydrowave for allowing them to win - but they used to back in the day before FFS. The kid credited The Scope in write-ups I saw. I imagine a guy who actually won without using his Scope these days would go out of his way to point that out…but I get your point. It’s become a universal piece of equipment that plays in some respect most of the time these days. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 25, 2024 Author Global Moderator Posted March 25, 2024 I’ve listened to all the weigh ins and skeeter Yamaha still get credited very often, as well as outer wear Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted March 25, 2024 Super User Posted March 25, 2024 Even by 50th place “winners” 😆 They’ve got the stage and the mic for just a few minutes in their life - better name every sponsor you got for helping you get there. 1 Quote

If it's not a birch bark canoe, a hand carved paddle and a cane pole with a hook made from bone, it's not fair chase! 5 Quote
The Baron Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 I’ve never really paid much attention to the BM Classic. It got a little of my attention last year, after Gussy won it 🇨🇦. I followed it a bit more this year, because it was too cold to enjoy anything outside myself. I’ve got no baseline to know if these tournaments used to be better, but I found the coverage just what I’d expect - trying to make a non-spectator sport exciting, while bombarding us with ads. Our whole world is like that now - commercialized and awash in sponsors and nonsense. So not a knock against the Classic, I’m just about done with it all. I do agree with the earlier comment that so many of these pro bass fisherman seem like guys you could step on a boat and have a good day with, “average joes” so to speak. I do appreciate that aspect very much, seeing a guy who’s quit his day job to pursue a dream and won it. That’s very cool. So I watched some highlights, but only lasted a short while on the live coverage boredom. I find the controversy over FFS more interesting than the sport itself. lol 5 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 28, 2024 Super User Posted March 28, 2024 Not sure if my issue is late or the magazine ad team is late, but just got this today. But what got my attention is that the pics show two rods....neither of which is a baitcaster... still looks a bit weird to me. May have been the only two spinning rods in the magazine, tho Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted April 3, 2024 Author Global Moderator Posted April 3, 2024 I was listening to Matt arey today and he said he didn’t turn on his FFS unit the entire classic and finished 15th 2 Quote
slowworm Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 And Scott Martin was glued to his FFS and missed the cut. Edited - I'm actually thinking of Lake Fork, not the classic. But same thing. Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted April 4, 2024 Author Global Moderator Posted April 4, 2024 He got 2nd in the classic on the lake they are going to next year, he might be a good betting favorite in 2025 Quote
