DaubsNU1 Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Just watched about 25 minutes of TV coverage...boring. Headed back out to my garage to sort lures. It's 40 degrees and raining here in Nebraska, wind blowing N @ 25+. March Madness now on the TV. That is all. 4 Quote
Pat Brown Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Honestly looks like Hamner has got it barring some magic! If so - well deserved. 1 Quote
Dan N Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 I’ve never thought the fishing was too exciting to watch, ffs or not. I just check in occasionally to see what’s going on. I will say , it didn’t seem like all ffs from what I saw. yes lots and lots commercials 🤣 Quote

At least on line you can mute, or skip commercials after a few seconds. Live sports...have to suffer through. The few shows the wife likes to watch, we DVR, then fast-forward through commercials. She loves to watch Planet Earth before bed time...calms her down. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted March 24, 2024 Super User Posted March 24, 2024 Someone will miss catching a frisbee, get a bloody nose, and sue the pants off of BASS...why don't they just hand them out as people come in the door? 1 Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted March 24, 2024 Super User Posted March 24, 2024 There live coverage is horrible. My fantasy team hasn’t been updated all day . Both organizations have dropped the ball this in coverage Quote

Because this is how they get people cheering...so they can shoot footage of it and then later edit it in the final show to make it look like there's a bunch of screaming fans. They shoot T-Shirts into the stands too. Then Mercer gets the stadium to have a screaming contest. All of it is used in the edited version to make it look WAY more exciting than it really is. 5 3 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted March 24, 2024 Super User Posted March 24, 2024 I'm in the minority it seems but I have zero complaints, there isn't another resource that I learn more from than watching Elite Series anglers fish. I feel like I could be best friends with 90% of these guys, watching them achieve the ultimate dream in Bass fishing never gets old. This is the ultimate celebration of our sport, and Black Bass. Ray Scott's dream is alive and well. 8 Quote

Dan N Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 It’s a little bit over the top for me, 5-6 hours of weigh in?? gee whiz 2 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted March 24, 2024 Super User Posted March 24, 2024 I think the pendulum has swung too far, and we’ve now reached the point of too much (live) coverage. Seems like they’re having a hard time filling in all the “down time” when the bite is slow, especially in a nearly 8 hour day. Then there’s the multiple hosting platforms, along with the inconsistency in announcers because of that. Seems like I’ve read a lot more negative comments so far this year on coverage, especially with BASS. 5 Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted March 25, 2024 Super User Posted March 25, 2024 Congrats to the kid. He really proved himself. Miss old Ray Scott, The best MC there ever was 2 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted March 25, 2024 Super User Posted March 25, 2024 Congrats to Justin.....a dominant win, wire to wire. You could see a win coming since last season. He's a savant on the scope, taught Patrick Walters how to scope, he's going to be a real player going forward. Only in America can a guy go from cutting lawns to winning the most prestigious fishing tournament in the world! Not once was a dollar mentioned, or a check shown off.....winning money is at the very bottom of the list of why you want to win the Classic. Great event, happy customer 😁 9 Quote
volzfan59 Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 I agree with @AlabamaSpothunter, watched live coverage all day today. Even streamed a little while. Watched yesterday too. Zero complaints. @Glenn, I always mute commercials too. Congratulations to Justin Hamner, seems like a good guy. I happy for him. Adam Rasmussen (sp?) made a run at it and for a while I thought that he might take the lead. Dude is a stick. 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted March 25, 2024 Super User Posted March 25, 2024 I caught a 6.6 during a commercial yesterday, and a 5 even right when live finished earlier today......I never had a use for a smartphone until I started watching fishing derbies while fishing. It makes me enjoy being out there even more oddly enough. I've fished everyday they've had an Elite Series or Classic day this season thus far. Gonna go to the Smith Lake event, but I hope the trend continues 😁 2 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted March 25, 2024 Super User Posted March 25, 2024 I accept commercials as a fact of life. If a service is free, you are the product. I have perhaps an unpopular view of Bass Live: It is not a TV show, and it shouldn't attempt to be a TV show. I don't care if it's boring -- I just want to see what the anglers are doing, and maybe hear them talk a little. I would rather watch the downtime than listen to all the desk chatter. 1 Quote

I feel like for most sports outside of the big ones this is the case. They just want to win and be the best. The moneys great but, knowing what they accomplished is what keeps them going. I watched some of the coverage. It was a slow day it seemed. Hard to make something “entertaining” when not much is going on. That’s fishing though, not every second of every day im on the water is it exciting. I don’t know what anyone could really ask for coverage wise in thst respect. Also on that note having the lead within a couple pounds all day is a nail biter. At that point all it takes is one to make or break it. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 25, 2024 Super User Posted March 25, 2024 Don't recall Hamner registering in my mind until last couple weeks when he made the rounds on a few podcasts because of that tank he caught on Fork. I instantly became a fan. Truly likeable guy. Glad he got the Classic win. 1 Quote
