however, I used to feel the same about swim jigs, and jigs in general, but since I’ve stuck with them, and learned how to use them, they are now my go to . 
when shore fishing, I rarely use something other then some type of jig.

Jerkbaits. Can't recall a single fish I've caught on one

Look how beautiful this thing is. It seems near perfect to me. Fast, slow, dragging, hopping, stroking, burning, low in the water column, middle of the water column, high in the water column, shallow, deep, in weeds, over weeds, in rock, over rock, through pads, in open water, multiple bodies of water, every combination of weather conditions... Not one single strike. Then I tie on anything else and catch fish. Why? Why??

Crazy as it sounds, not one bass on a hair jig. Catfish , sheephead  and drum by the boatload.

Anything with a Spunk Shad type trailer.  I've had excellent luck on chatterbaits & swim jigs using a Keitech, but I haven't any luck with the pin tailed plastics.  They look fantastic in the water, I'm telling myself it's just a matter of time.

Ive tried and tried and I just can’t get a bass to hook up. 

I haven't fished a plopper much, but I I've never landed a bass with one, though I've had several hits. For whatever reason, they just don't hook up. My buddy uses them with good success though.

Ive caught more bass on trout/panfish tube jigs or live worms under a bobber than i have with a fluke, jerkbait, spinnerbait/buzzbait, swim jigs, and topwaters all combined.

 

Im starting to think all the guys recommending them and talking about how much bass they catch on them are just artificial intelligence bots. Although the lures do look nice, just not to the bass where im fishing i guess.

Interesting that others say they don't have success with many of the lures I don't have success with, or much success with.

 

I rarely have had success with a lipless crankbait. I've had a little bit though, so I do fish them, but never had the success nor the confidence with them that I do with a regular crankbait.

 

Flukes, I've had some success with recently and starting to build confidence with them.

 

Jerkbaits... I haven't had anything on them in a long time.

 

Jigs, I've had 1 fish on a swim jig. I'm learning though.

I’ve caught fish on these lures just not enough to sneeze at.

 

I understand the differences but I’d rather throw a:

 

buzzbait

spinnerbait

fluke

ned rig 

 

I think confidence in a particular lure is the biggest thing. Sometimes I wish someone would take all my lures away and leave me with some worm hooks, a tub of senkos and my jig box, I’d be happy.

This is the same for me. I have not caught any with that or the magnum u-vive craw. The original u-vive and the super speed craw are favorites for me. The baby brush hog is a favorite also.

I always get hung up and end up going through many. Never had to much luck with them for whatever reason.

Watched a guy on youtube several years ago have tremendous luck on them.

 

Got all excited and bought several in a couple different sizes.

 

I haven't thrown the large one yet and I've only caught a few on the medium sized one. And those few took a lot of casts.

Spinner bait! Lots of pike though lol. It’s almost embarrassing because it’s so iconic. I’ve caught more largemouth through the ice with a minnow targeting walleye than I have with a spinner bait and I actually hardly ever ice fish lol

Lakes around here are either mucky bottom with lots of moss, standing timber, or devoid of any structure / rocks / etc.

Not sure unless maybe you have really stained water…. Caught tons of bass/pike and even a 22lb Muskie on a swim jig! lol but I’ll just assume you can catch bass on a spinner bait and I can’t ha
