Some micro jigs i’ve been making, 1/8th ounce with a size 1 hook, will be killer in cold clear water! I’ve been tying with frogs hair rubber and thin cut silicone from livingrubber. Does anyone know of any other good sources of fine cut silicone? Micro trd for scale

Micro jigs are my jam 😎. With that said, I typically just use normal silicone. If you haven't already, I would look at the fishing skirts website to see what they have.

Out of curiosity, what hook are you building those bad boys on?

Mustad 32746 #1. It’s an awesome little hook, in the #4 and #6 sizes it is the sharpest point i’ve seen on a crappie jig sized hook.

If you want fine strand silicone skirts, go to fishingskirts.com and look at their finesse series skirts. Before you buy just verify that this is finer than their standard silicone skirt. Also the fine skirt is sometimes called frog hair. I too am a micro jig fisherman. I usually fish a snootie jig which I custom pour in 1/8 oz , no weedguard, 5304 #1/0 Owner hook. The skirt for my jig is sparse as I like the jig to sink a little quicker since the weight is not there.

I like fishing tiny jigs in certain situations and also make my own. Fishingskirts is sold out of most of their fine cut stuff right now but that is where I get my material from.

Those look great! After moving to Utah I really only ever need downsized stuff, i’m really happy with the material from living rubber but wish they hade a better color selection in the fine cut silicone

agreed, mine are much smaller than a standard bass finesse jig though. In terms of bass jigs i’d say it’s pretty “micro”. Maybe ned sized is a better discription, hard to fit a whole trd on them though.

I would call your jigs small finesse jigs we use like Puff Ball and Skinny Bear jigs.

For cold water jigs I suggest maybe adding bucktail

I do have some bucktail and squirrel tail I really need to experiment with more, i’ve made some micro bluegill jigs with the squirrel tail and they look really cool.

those look fantastic, does the bottom one have a zonker strip on it too?

Yes. They are all hybrid silicone or rubber + hair. Some have chenille as well.

Don't judge my crappy tying skills but this is what I am throwing in cold water. To clarify what I consider coldwater its anything under 45 degrees. Water under 40 degrees these are all I use except for the occasional 2.5" tube during a warming trend.

You need to add bear hair to that cold water arsenal

Watch Michael Jense ty some hair jigs. You might want to incorporate or learn a few things.

I know that I have. I was skeptical about using Deer hair because I thought it wouldn't have any action.  I was wrong! Check it out, we can always learn something from others, no matter where they are.

Polar Bear hair was excellent before it became illegal to use.
