Giving back

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As some of you know my wife is a recent cancer survivor. We were so lucky to have an amazing hospital with a very good cancer center near by, and her treatment was top notch. She and I were exploring ideas on how we might give back and came across an Idea that is a good fit for us. Besides fishing, my wifes main hobby is quilting and we found out the hospital could use Lap quilts for patients during infusions, chemo to help keep them warm and possibly take home.

So my wife has been busy making quilts and bags to keep them in.

Here's one we hung up to photograph and one of the storage bags she is making.

Thanks for looking

Well done! I’m sure that the hospital and, more importantly, the patients will be most grateful. Seriously, well done!

I kind of know where you have been jb.  My daughter is in chemo right now with aggressive breast cancer.   Congrats to your survivor wife.

That's wonderful and a great idea.

Thanks for sharing. I lost my mom to cancer. I remember when I took her to the cancer treatment center, there were a couple of hand made toboggans someone made and left for those that needed them.

Good show. My wife started doing the same when Covid hit, except crocheted, that she gives to the local ICU. Gives her something to do thru the winter, along with hats for the homeless via church.

@jbmaine good deal…. Please tell your wife “thank you” her quilts are giving comfort to someone that needs it, even if just a little, sometimes just that little bit more, is all you need.

Thank you too.
