Overcast conditions

A 3.5” Ripper swimbait is where I would start. Chartreuse pepper with a splash of red dip and dye. Thread that goodness onto a 1/4 oz ball head jig and watch the magic happen.

Welcome, @farmerfishing! I love cloudy days. I also love chartreuse.

I fish really clear water. Cloudy and overcast days are my favourite. On cloudy days, the bass tend to move away from cover and roam around more.

The more overcast the better. Chartreuse spinnerbait is the ticket for me.

Overcast w wind or current as some of us would say. Spinnerbaits, rattlebaits, squarebills or vibrating jigs.. in a 20 mph day with peaks of sun and warming water, a spinnerbait, no sun w rain, crank bait.

or rattlebaits. That’s my style..

Overcast reduces depth of light allowing predators like bass to roam more. Bass have superior eye sight then their prey advantage bass.

If the bass are active hunting they will chase lures take your pick.

I prefer to use jigs in lieu of faster moving lures because reduced light allows crawdads to be more active and big bass eat crawdads.

I fish very clear water and overcast is much preferred.

Steep shady banks can be fun on sunny days.

Overcast and a possibility of rain helps keep the "pleasure" boaters off the lake. 🙂

Overcast days are "spinner bait" days for me. My favorite color is white with two willow leaves.

It’s unbelievable the lack of recreational boaters on an overcast or rainy day in the summer time here. It might ruin someone’s tan, but quite often the fishing is very good. With very few other bodies out there.

Plus, you can leave the neds and drop shots and other finesse plastics at home. Grip it and rip it.

Overcast & Snow is a fan favorite here in the north woods.

Best Time for the BJ's . . .

Bladed Jig and Jerkbaits.

Only thing better than an overcast day is an overcast day with fog.
