Kinda like tackle. My fishing wristwatch.

My old Garmin is toast. The battery is toast.  And the body is beaten down.  I love it.  For fishing it’s simply the best.  GPS can track where I’ve been.  On a map!   If I go with a guide?  Tap a button and I can track where we go.  Usually not helpful since guide use boats, and I’m on a kayak.  I usually cannot reach honey-holes.  But I know where they are.

I’ll see if Garmin can replace the battery, but I did buy the new one.  The sirens song of solar was too great.  Hehe.  The new one is nice. Linking to the phone was the easiest thing ever.  Simple QR code on the watch face.

my halibut fishing route.   And the new vs old watch.

Takes all the challenge away. You might as well be using FFS, 😂🤣 Seriously, that's nice, and if you're happy I'm happy for you.

Sweet. I didn't know Garmin made watches.

Garmin makes very nice watches, been considering one for years but for hiking. But not exactly a financial priority for me right now lol.

I’m currently sporting a Fenix 6x. I’ve been a garmin fanboy for years. Have had nearly every model of the forerunner.  Have used their cycling computers as well. I’ve never had an issue with any of them. My charger on my current Fenix doesn’t lock into my watch any longer, but I use my wife’s…

Guess I'm old fashioned - my watch is a 40+ year old Pulsar Digital/Analog. Replace the battery every so often and it still works like a champ. I know it's that old cause I still have the manual for it.

I completed the Kansas 1/2 Ironman Triathlon in 2010. I used Garmin then. I also trained on garmin prior to the 1/2 iron. Don’t know the exact answer, but at least 15yrs.

As an aside, they also make some of the best avionics glass cockpits in the aviation industry…

What does it do for fishing other than tracking your location?

That's great! Love old watches!

I frequently wear a 1966 Seiko...but not for fishing. :)

I was wondering the same. If I still lived in Florida the rides would be awesome for when I fished saltwater bayous. I bet it will show the barometric pressure too. Super nice looking watch!

First of all, I don’t believe the OP intended this post to promote this Garmin as a “fishing watch”, and I’m not sure of the exact model, but my guess would be this…baro pressure, elevation, temp, wind speed/direction. Tides apparently, and who knows what else. It’s also a fitness tracker and my guess is that it has tracking for kayaking and SUP as mine does and mine is over 5 yrs old now…

Garmin makes wonderful products. Like I said, I’ve been wearing them for years now. That said, when this one dies, I’m probably just going to go to an Apple Watch. For my lifestyle now, there is so much “wasted watch” for me.

Thank you. I’ve been using an Apple Watch for years now so I was very curious what this watch would offer to someone like myself as far as fishing benefits.

great question. I'll know more tomorrow.  going fishing.  unlike my old watch, I clicked on Kayaking to track my fishing route.  this new watch has a feature called, "fish".  I picked it as one of my favs, and will activate it tomorrow.  I think it will track my route, tides, and baro pressure.

its just a tool, like a boat is a fishing tool.

the watch has a ballistic chart.  haha..for the snipers in the group.

These were originally just a fitness watch, more or less.

But as the technology got better, they just kept adding more and more features.

I think this sort of thing is really cool.

Nice watch! I'm a bit of a luddite in this arena, quartz beater for my fishing/hiking watch and automatics for typical daily wear. I would say I don't like that I have to charge a watch, but it's a bit moot since I still have to manually wind a couple of my watches every few days....

I hit the fishing button.  It tracks number of fish caught. I just have to remember to log it.  It will track on a map where I got bit.  Plus time in water, weather tides alerts, sunset. Etc.  the things is daunting.  Lots of features.

Very cool. Seems like a neat tool for a boat angler but probably not as helpful to a bank angler. Thanks for explaining it.
