I love crawfish too. They just went out of season a couple months back. Can’t wait for March to roll around again. I like mine pretty spicy and yes, I do suck the head. Throw some corn and sausage in the boil and I’ll sit there and eat my weight in crawfish…

Never tried one raw, but the bass may be on to something!! 😂😂

So, you have good luck with red ones much like me, right?

Some of the best crawdads of all time are not produced anymore. But that’s only my opinion. Many out there that are very productive. Being a river rat they are a go to soft plastic for me.
I’ve been doing well with the Z-man TRD craws. Have only fished them a few seasons. Color does not mean that much. Everything I’ve used has worked.
I believe that extra bit of buoyancy helps and they hold up great to the bite. They seem to last for a few fish.
I do want to step up my game and try the bigger larger version of them. I have not tried them yet. I’ll try to pick up a couple of packs for the fall. Forage should be at full size and a larger bait might be worth a try.

I use to have some craws with a bubble in the pincer. You could place a little rattling ball in them . They would float  and make noise. Cant remember who made them.

I have better luck fishing a crawfish bait more than a creature bait.  I use Ultravibe Speedcraws, and Netbait Paca Chunks most of the time.  I think it has something to do with the smaller profile.

Back in June, a 3/16oz black/blue bitsy bug with a black/blue flake or okee craw paca chunk was on fire for post spawn largemouth for me. On fussy days, green craw bitsy and gp paca were viable as well. Also caught some big ol’ rock bass on them lol

I really miss the Gambler “baby” Guido Bug. Fished on an 1/8 oz Slider head, they had a special way of irritating smallmouths.

My favorite of all time. I sill have a few left. I thought the world was going to come to an end back in the day that production stopped on those guys.
Some of my nicer river smallies have come off of them.
Many of the crawfish being made today are too realistic and I don’t think it gets you anything. The Zoom Craws are close to the GB’s. I wish Zoom would put out a couple more basic colors.
I’ve been fishing the Z-man craws some. They have been working but have not caught a respectable fish yet on them.

Have you ever tried the Croc-O-Gator Ring Craw? I use them almost exclusively on a Slider head and they are magic at times.
