Hello from NC!

Featured Replies

Hello, friends. I am excited to be a part of this community. I am 31, recently moved to central North Carolina, and have been fishing for the past 10 years or so, mainly for bass but caught a 44 inch muskie back in January!

I am primarily a bank fisherman and am in desperate need of local friends to fish with. Also, if you have a boat, I will pitch in with gas money and snacks!

Hope you all have a great day and week ahead!

Welcome from Eastern NC.

If you just moved and have caught a musky I'm going to assume you are from more north? Waters down here took me a while to adjust too, definitely a bit different.

Moved from Maryland but am originally from the Chicago area. The musky was caught near Radford, Virginia, during a guided trip. It was frigid but absolutely worth it.

Hey nice to meet you!  Lots of good public water all over central NC and every single place you wet a line seems chock full of giant bass that hardly bite anything 😉👍 - gotta get dialed in 😎!  Takes time on the water - no substitutes or short cuts or secret lures or special lakes - just takes time on the water - no time like the present to hop in and start learning to catch LMB in NC! There’s tons to learn here it’s an awesome place.  I suggest picking ONE lake or pond near you and learning it inside and out and focusing on consistently catching bass during all seasons and conditions there and then expanding to another body of water once you are starting to see more success than failure at your chosen spot!

Probably the biggest adjustment for you in central NC is going to be the sheer amount of submerged pine trees and pine laydowns. They're everywhere and just waiting to snag you up, but the big bass love them!

I've already lost a few vibrating jigs to those suckers. High risk, high reward (is what I tell myself).

Welcome and congrats on your big musky!

spinnerbaits come through wood better in my experience. Might have better luck not getting hung up if they bite them.

Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida.

I used to live north of Asheville, in Burnsville Nc. That’s where I cut my teeth small mouth fishing.
