Red/White baits?

Featured Replies

I have a couple of blade baits that I found, they are white body with a red head. Is this color good for bass, or is it more for other species?

Red and white, makes them bite.

Staple color combination for over a century. Today the few red head white body lures that are popular is “clown”. The color combo doesn’t sell anymore but the bass still strike it.

A red headed bone MirrOlure is one of the most popular cross over lures down here for both bass and salt water snook.

Helpful tip…

I always replace the front treble on most all crank type hard baits with a red one, especially on one of those.

I'd like to have a dollar for each red and white Bass Oreno that was sold.

Old school, red and white ruled, still catches fish. Growing up I always had daredevils, plugs, all manner of red and white lures.

Dang, …. I learn something from BR all the time. In all my fishing days I’ve new used a red and white, except salt water.

@Mike L do you replace them on all your hard baits or just the red/ white ones?

I replace all the front rebels regardless of the overall color except for constantly moving top water’s like a Spook

I never fished the red white baits. They just didnt look like right. Even as a kid , they were not appealing.

Walleye guys love clown!!

I'd like a white bladed jig with a red blade.

I’m convinced that red, white and black are the only colors you need for any depth and any water condition. One of those will catch fish

I haven't fished with that color for a long time. Years ago we used to clean up with a red and white lipless crankbait.

Color just doesn’t matter

Thanks for all the replies.

Color might not matter... but it makes me feel better having a bunch of different ones in my box.

99.9% of all “sexy shad” frogs are *drumroll* white belly with a red throat.  That means the bass is seeing - yep - white and red.

Frogs might be red and white, but what about shad? lol, Point taken. I'll spruce up those old blade baits and get them into the rotation even though I don't have much confidence in the color yet.

White and red knock’em dead; red and white always right. Whatever you wanna use, that combo is versatile on any predator

That's just nonsense.

How come so many of those early baits were red and white? Did they just have alot of red and white paint left over from some industry? Maybe, way back then they were really on to something. 🤔

No, but that looks a lot like a crawdad without any of its legs/arms.

Yep. Wounded shad, wounded shiner minnows, etc.
