It sounded too good to be true. The Netflix thing, that couldn't be verified, should have been a red flag. Crazy stuff.

That GetUrFishon character touted this as the next big thing too.

Listen, the name of the series was “DTF”. If that didn’t set off red flags for you then maybe nothing will.

Im always DTF if you know what I mean

Down To Fish, right?

I don’t get where the 1.5mm scam amount comes from. From what I get, only some paid the entry fees before he deemed it free entry and a small number of them got their refund checks cashed before he vanished. He probably owed the marina some cash but for most, it was just like fishing a tournament and finishing out of the $$ with no entry fees. Even for those that won. I understand the expenses on the anglers as well.

@TOXIC what I gathered from another forum, the entrants have added up the lost winnings, expenses, travel, etc plus any who have paid entry fees.

The organization wrote the people who finished in the money bad checks. The whole thing is fugazi.

Shocking….

That guy hates B.A.S.S. for some reason. Extremely weird fellow. He’s like Randy Blaukat’s remora.

"The "Dual Threat Team Fishing" situation, highlighted in early 2026, is a reported, fraudulent fishing tournament operation. Participants and observers identified it as a scam, with reports circulating of it being a "fiasco". This is distinct from broader "double-barrel" phishing, which uses urgent, two-step deception to steal personal data"
