KARASHI 80 ; ANYBODY GET ONE?

Featured Replies

First offering of the Karashi 80 at The Hookup was available at 9:00 Arizona time. Sold out in seconds. I put 3 in my cart, in stock, then shopped for a couple Vision 110 plus 1 Jrs, took maybe 5 minutes. Went to checkout and all 3 of the Karashi had been removed from my cart, and all colors in the product were sold out. Did one of you guys move faster than I did and steal some?

If you have committed to purchase those items, then the store should honor it once in your cart- with an acceptable time limit to allow you to shop for a bit longer. But if you fail to purchase within a reasonable time period, then maybe it could be considered as acceptable to remove items from your cart and sell them to others.

This situation should be changed to prevent this sort of thing. We deserve better. I hope I am not alone in thinking this way.

I am trying to imagine walking around a grocery store with a cart full of groceries only to have others following me around pulling items out of my cart as I shop. It just makes no sense to do it this way.

What colors were you trying for? There’s a few other online retailers with them still in stock.

Thanks Jerkbait22, I'll take a look.

Yeah, for JDM drops you have to have all your payment and shipping info preloaded. Put in cart and quick fire order. These kinds of releases are not for people that think they may want to dabble or get 1 as part of an order.

@Tackleholic - I went to The Hook Up Tackle as well - I felt I was very well prepared - quickly put three in the cart - inputted CC info - hit pay - I did this in 2 minutes or less - 2 of the three were removed from my cart because they were "Sold Out" - so I quickly went back in and put two more (different colors) in the cart - hit pay - same thing came up - aggravating because they are in the cart - I agree with @FloridaFishinFool , once it is in your cart you should have 2 to 5 minutes (or whatever timeline they deem appropriate) to check out, otherwise the items open up for others to buy (a number of companies do this, specifically with concert tickets)

Because I have been burned by this in the past I already had my Tackle Warehouse account up and open - so I quickly clicked over to that - put three in the cart, put in CC info, checked out - and it worked...

My guess is people are using BOTS and buying 20 or more at a time - and then re-selling them at a significant mark up - which is a shame - people who are going to be using them should have a shot at them...

I would be in favor of some sort of limiter - not sure exactly how that would work with BOTS and other technological means to "beat the system" - perhaps in the first 30 minutes/1 hour you can only buy XX number of the lure (they did this before with some popular lures) - or as mentioned once it's in your cart you have X minutes to complete the purchase or you can purchase XX number but then you have to log out, log back in and you can try again or ?????...

The Hook Up Tackle and other tackle shops are in business to sell gear and it's a volume driven business, so I understand they want to sell what they have and not sit on inventory - yet with a popular lure like this they may want to look at some ways to allow true anglers/people that will actually use the lures to have access to them

I tried two more of my favorite sources, no luck there either; now I'm bummed and out of the mood, will look again some other time. I didn't run across any tinsel trebles for the 80 size, only for the original BFS size.

Megabass will evaluate the sales response and manufacture accordingly. They are a master of managing sales to inventory.

Your mouse was quicker than mine.

@FishTank - I was ready and prepared and inputted info. right away - and the Gill came up as sold out - not sure I could have acted any faster/typed faster/clicked the buttons faster - I had all my info. preloaded so I did not have to type in name/address/ect....-- my guess is BOTS were used to suck them up that fast and people buying high numbers (to re-sell, not to use) - as I mentioned above I have had this happen before so I had my TW account open and ready and just jumped over to that and ordered three -- in the end it's only a lure and Megabass will make more and sell many more -- even *** put out a post saying they were blown away by how fast they went and they were directing people to TW to try and get them

Anyone know if Megabass offers a tinsel treble sized for the size 80? I could not find one.

Nothing as of now as far as I know. Guessing they will offer one if it sells as good as the original.

I bought Kasumi Ito and mat shad this morning. Was trying to limit myself until I see how it works but couldn’t help myself and circled back this afternoon to buy deadly black shad and albino pearl.

I picked up 3 at the Classic on Friday, but unless they had back stock the pegs were getting very empty.

Yes they do saw them on google

I have the regular sized still in its package so I have zero experience with it.

How does it compare to a jerkbait?

Meaning, what does it do different?

The Karashi is not a jerkbait, it's a twitch bait. It has no bill so it doesn't wobble. It's like working a surface bait (Spook) underwater, but more softly. It darts.

I balked at the price. Then they sold out.

Here is a video from Megabass USA. He is using a downward pop but you can work it with a side swipe to walk it underwater like a spook. I throw it on a light Megabass P5 Whippet or on a couple of different BFS setups. Both work. I prefer fluorocarbon 6lb for line.
