Kast King Tri-Poly line

Featured Replies

Anyone used this before?

I bought a spool because it was on sale and so far I'm liking it better than any fluorocarbon that i normally use.

Its the best of both worlds. Almost invisible underwater, SINKS, has less stretch than Mono but only a tiny bit more than Flouro. Best of all its a lot cheaper than Flouro which is nice for people like me who tend to change out lines often. Think i paid $10 for 300yards on Amazon. (for some reason its cheaper on amazon than from KastKings website)

I will have to look into this. I need some 17 pound line for a couple of my reels and was going to get some flouro. For a lot of my setups I use sunline super natural mono due to the thin diameter. For some reason I have never felt like spending the extra on fluorocarbon lines. The cheap stuff isn’t very good normally and the better stuff is kind of expensive. What pound test/techniques have you been using it for?

I bought 15lb. I just got it last weekend but I've been using it for Weightless TX Rigged Senko's, Chatterbaits, and Spinnerbaits. I haven't tried it for topwater yet.

Despite what the box reads, I'm going to believe it is a monofilament.

It literally says Mono on the box. Its a Hybrid line. Too many people are stuck on the "flouro or die" bandwagon.

Well keep me updated. I will probably try a spool myself. Is the diameter of the line really as small as it says on the box?

Not sure which lakes you fish at but it worked well on N.TX lakes.

I fish in Spotsylvania, VA reservoirs and ponds. I have some wood where I can test the abrasion resistance 👍

It's thin. I recently contacted Kast King cause I couldn't find the 17lb. clear in stock, they said it wasn't available. Don't know if they meant the line or 17lb. test. Brian.

Good evening all. I’m curious @LGDFW @Brycecover if you did in fact buy a spool of Kast King tripolymer what your guys opinion is on this line? I recently received my 4lb test line from their 4th of July sale which cost me $8.99 pre tax & shipping. I will say I really like their “regular monofilament” and have used (2) spools also in 4lb in Rebel Red & Ice Blue for more than a few years without issues other than the “Blue” color bleeding out way to quickly for my liking. I really like the red as the color has held up as well as well as @FloridaFishinFool recently discussing bass and I’m going to assume panfish in general can’t see the color red and for some reason I can when it comes to subtle bites indicated by line movement. I really want to like this line but as i was spooling it onto my reel I had quite a few break offs just trying to tie it onto my spool as well as I went too far down a rabbit hole on fishing lines in general which included watching a YT video where the KK tripolymer line was trashed in controlled testing which involved break strength, actual diameter with a micrometer and abrasion resistance rubbing against a actual rock vs Big Game monofilament in 20lb test. I also welcome and hope anyone will chime in with their experience with Sunline Supernatural Monofilament which I believe quite a few members including @FishTank have experience with as I can purchase a 4lb IMG_0546.jpegIMG_0574.jpeg3300 yard bulk spool for under $50.00 which is the closest comparison diameter wise to the Kastking tripolymer I’ve seen so far.

I've been using Super Natural Mono for years. I haven't used the 4lb, but pretty much everything from 6lb up to 20lb. I prefer it over any other mono I've tried so far, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. If you can get 3300 yd spools of 4lb for under $50, and can actually use even half of it, I would say go for it.

@LGDFW how are the knots tying.

Did it break at the knot or did the knot itself break the line?

I have all different lb tests of this line. I haven't had any issues with it. I use it on my trout, panfish and bass setups. Both spinning and baitcasting.

One break was at the knot itself and the other two were broken by the knot.

Triple the price and I'm in. Otherwise the monkey will say it's cheap junk, and I'm not allowed to try it.
