Most Expensive Set Up

Featured Replies

Shimano Calais DC ($649.99) on a St. Croix Tournament TBC70mhf ($229.99) = $879.98.  However I would never pay that much for it. :)

When I was young and single I spent every dime I had on fishing and hunting gear.  My car cost $500 and I owned fly rod and reel combos over $600.  My home was a cabin with no plumbing, built for $800

  • Gear shaming is weird and cringey whether it's done looking up or whether it's done looking down. You have no idea what you'd buy if you had "that type of money", but the odds are very good that you'd

Seems like you are the only one trying to do so. Everyone else is just participating as the title says.

My most expensive combo is my Shimano Calais 200 and Loomis Mossyback 803.  Together they are worth a retail $530.

Most of my reels though I did not get for retail...just got really good deals:

Chronarch 100SF retail $229.99 for $174.99

Calais 200 retail $329.99 for $249.99

Calais 100A retail $389.99 for $150.00 (BEST DEAL)

Calcutta TE 100GT retail $329.99 for $199.99 (SECOND BEST DEAL)

Revo SC retail $139.99 for $79.99

Stradic 2000FG retail $114.99 for $88.00

All reels were NEW when purchased except the 100A...which was in excellent condition.  It pays to look around!!!  I also got many of my rods on a discounted price as well!  Good fishin'!

G loomis IMX $255 with a Revo stx $200 = $455

kistler ltx helium II $330

Shimano calais dc $650

but i prefer my steez on another  kistler for under a 10oz setup

My word what a high roller!  :)

Zebco Spincast with an Eagle Claw fiberglass rod. :o

Yeah, whatever.  :)

I'm not sure because I don't ever buy things at full price. Probably an avid with a revo premier on it.

Steez 103ha $450 on a Loomis MBR 844 GLX $360= $810 retail but of course I didnt pay retail :)

Steez 103HA on a Loomis CR722 GLX..around $700 or more, cannot remember exactly.

daiwa fuego 2000 spinning on a loomis GLX DSR820s about $600.00

That being said I find myself buying up used green curado's because I like them so much. My favorite combo to fish with is a daiwa L/T crankin rod with a Curado 201B5, about $250.00

You don 't think I 'm gonna put it on writing do ya ?  :-?

A cane pole and these two hands for cranking. Have to crank on a long straight bank, no trees. Walk fast, don't run, may spook shallow fish. ;D

Steez 100 on Steez 6'3mhf. Haven t even gotten a chance to use it yet, stinking winter. >:) :'(

I have a $68 dollar quantam baitcast reel paired with a $60 Medium Abu Garcia casting rod.

For spinning, I have a $55 dollar sahara spinning reel paired with a $79 BPS spinning rod.

I am going to buy a US Spinning Reel that goes for $120 this year, so this ranking will change soon.

I can't seem to handle paying over $350 for a setup... right now.  My most expensive is a Curado 100D paired with a Powell 703CB.

TD-Z 100M on a G. Loomis 844C IMX.

Mine is a Daiwa Steez 103HLA ($450) and a St. Croix Elite EC70MH ($340).

That is $790, but my average is around $600 for a casting rod (Daiwa Alpha 103L Type F @ $280 and a St. Croix Elite EC68MXF @ $320).

I am however a believer that you are only as good as the equipment you use, and I can say that the rods are probably the most important aspect of my fishing as my bite detection went up by a considerable margin since I purchased my 14 Elites (spinning and casting).

Take care all,

Steve

Mine would be my japan stella and the loomis glx it resides on roughly 840.00 total. Now if we talk flyfishing then...

Either one of my T&T LPS's with my flyreel over 1000.00!!!all for trout and bream but god it's fun! ;D ::)
