Which reel do you think is a better bang for the buck? As in smoothness, cast distance, and weight?

I'd go with the Curado;  I'm not a fan of the Zillion's magforce Z.  Both are smooth, well built reels.  

I owned both currently have a 200E, 100DSV and 200DHSV sold the Zillion. I like the Curado.

I fished a tournament last weekend and my boat partner had a Zillion and I have all Curados.  I asked to try his Zillion and it wasn't 80-100 bucks better than my Curados.  I like the brakes on the Curado, so that casted better for me and the Zillion wasn't any smoother on the retrieve than the Curado.  The Curado is also noticeably lighter.

Very interested in this thread also. I have not tried a newer curado in years. I'm a big zillion fan,but there has been alot of good things said about the curado. So please keep up the info.

Here we go again......! Ur gonna get plenty of responses for both. It comes down to there's daiwa guys and shimano guys and they are gonna say one is better than the other. It's all about personal preference. I have used both and i sold the zillion to get another curado. So I am a shimano guy. 8-)

I agree.. Plus, the Zillions are just too heavy and don't palm near as good as the Curado.  

I like both, but if I had to choose one it would be the zillion. I know the curado is an icon for many, and I cant say anything bad about it. I just prefer the daiwa.

I recently purchased the new Curado 200E7. This reel

compares favorably with other higher priced Shimano

models. I think this is a great reel at a very good price.

I have a new Curado and a new Energy. They are at the same price point, but I must say the Curado will out perform the Energy any day of the week. I have also owned and used a few 50mg's, Sols and STX's. I must say the Curado is EVERY BIT AS GOOD! It cast's smooth, and effortlessly. It is by far one of the best reels I have owned.

I have Daiwa's and the Curado 200E7, I really like the Daiwa's, but..I think the Curado is a bit smoother.  I find myself using it a bit more.  But both are great reels.  That's a tough decision.  Use a magic 8 ball.

I prefer the curado.It has nice brakes and is perfect for many different rods and #line.I recently won the long cast contest at a tourney me and my work buddys do every year.

my set up is an old bantam bsf 200 curado - 6'6" castaway MH worm rod with 12# big game-i won the cast contest with a 1/2 oz. rattletrap.

I've got the both the Curado and the Zillion. Both are beautiful reels. But the Curado is the best bang for the buck.

Keep in mind, the Zillion is available in four retrieve speeds and in both left and right hand models.

Im a newbie here but not to fishing. I bought my first curado when I was 15. Saved up and got it after getting some advice from a local tackle shop here in Tulsa (Okie Bug for those locals). Thats been 13 years ago and the reel is still going strong. 8 of those years were bank fishing which has taken a toll on the finish but it still functions great! That reel and my Stradic that I bought a few years later are still in my kit. I have tried some other stuff but really like the way the Curado feels. The newer ones are even better. A lot has changed but the quality of Shimano is still top shelf. Good luck!

There's no question that the Curado is the better ''VALUE'' as it should be, it's $100 less than the Zillion.

Well here's my vote:  Zillion

Strong, smooth, EXTREMELY well put together, very ergonomic and comfortable, all versions available in both R and L retrieve

I tried the Curado and it was no great shakes for me...
