best jigs

Featured Replies

I fish a zoom finnesse worm in green pumpkin, but I want to learn how to fish a jig. Whats the best jig for a beginner. thanks

Booyah makes good quality lures. Booyah would be my first choice.

just like most fishing gear, there isn't a "best" but "favorate" gear. what works best for one guy might not work for the next. If there was a "BEST JIG" than that would be the only one made, bacuse nobody would use anything else

I have tried many, but Bass Stalker Jigs work the best for me

Eakins jigs,  Best productions finesse jig that I have used.

There are alot of quality jigs on the market.I feel the most important feature for a jig is to have a quality hook such as a Gammakatsu,Mustad Ultra Point, and some manufacturers are now using Owner.I have pretty much quit buying name brand jigs and now buy a custom made jighead and make up my own skirts.I get a jig with a Gammy or Owner hook and make my own skirt for around $1.50/pc.

I really like the Persuader big jigs for flipping and pitching, and for finesse or swimming I like Conquistador Tackle's Conquest Jig and my homemade jigs.

Eakins jig all day.  The 5/16oz is an awesome bait.  Another great one is the Grass Stalker by Uncle Josh.

I like Booyah and Strike King.

Another vote for Eakin's. A great little bait!

I am pretty picky about my jigs. Most important if it doesnt have a gamakatsu hook Im not throwing it period. I also like an inverted line tie on my hooks (perpendicular to the shank of the hook). My favorite Jigs are HI-TEK GMW Jigs also I throw the LunkLure RattleBack Jig, and the Catch'em Jig with Living Rubber Skirt.

The Eakins finesse jig was always my favorite but in Merryland they are hard to find in any usefull color. The only two complaints that I ever had with them was; 1. Not very many colors available, 2. The stock 3/0 hook was always questionable when using heavier line. Since I started making my own now I have complete control over the process and I fish jigs that I make 95% of the time. The only time I fish a stock jig is muddy summer water then I fish a Strike King pro model jig because I like the factory rattles.

Skinny Bear Pro Series Jigs. I have heard a lot of great things about Eakins and other jigs, but I personally won't use one that is not HAND TIED. Of all the jigs I have used, hand tied jigs tend to flare out considerably more than bulk production jigs that utilizes rubber bands to secure the skirts.
