Rochester, NY

Alewife, gobies, crayfish, blue gill/sunnies, sometimes shad

You know, I think I need to learn more about the forage species in my area.  I know they feed on Gills, Sunnys, and crayfish, but I think I will make a real effort to find out what the rest are called.  Im in Chicagoland by the way.

I fish the cook county forest preserves, i've found there to be alot shad and gizzard shad which can grow to 14". places like Tampier and saganaskee have alot of these which i believe makes those places hard to shore fish.

last year I started using a xrap shallow #8 in blk/gold and started doing much better. hoping to pickup a canoe this spring and figure those lakes out, they hold some big fish

Southern New Jersey.

Dead mob associates, Quarter Pounder W/ Cheese wrappers (especially if they have that orange cheese stuck to 'em ;))

Just kidding. Bluegills, perch, minnows, some crawfish but not everywhere. A lot of shallow water here. Plastics and jigs produce here.

Central Mexico.

Forage: Tilapia, bluegill, carp, minnows, you can throw in crappie in some places, channel catfish in others, toads in others, frogs and crawfish but not everywhere.

My lures barely resemble what the fish eat.

Don 't get caught in the "match the hatch", lures are meant to catch any predatory fish.

Central Florida

golden shiners, threadfin shad, crayfish, tilapia

The last time I tried to "match-the-hatch" was flyrodding for stream trout with wet Light Cahills :)

Central PA. Bluegill, trout, shad. It depends on which Lake I go too.

Florida,

shad, golden shiners, brim

I don't believe in matching the hatch for bass.  Make a good presentation of a good looking bait and they'll eat it.

Mass here and we have a variety of forage species, depending on what you are fishing for. Smelt, crayfish and perch for small mouths; bluegill, perch, shad and anything that moves for largemouths.  ;)

Leechburg, Pa

We have crayfish, shad, bluegill, perch and creek chubs.

Central Kansas here.

Depending on the lake, forage consists of shiners, bluegill, shad and (in certain waters) crawdads.

Tom

Socal

I'm not tellin.... :D

Lame!!!  ;D

California

Crawdads, Shad and TROUT

What's up mike.

I live in the Shenandoah Valley. The main food source for bass around here is bluegill. We also have crayfish, sunnies, crappie in some areas, trout in some areas, frogs, shad in the bigger lakes, blue back herrings, etc. It really depends on what body of water you are on in this area.

North TX!!!!! WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Shad(all species), yellow perch, sunfish
