What was your best fishing deal?

Featured Replies

What's the best deal that you partook of regarding fishing?

Mine arrived today.

I bought 20 assorted bags of Gene Larew, Zoom, Strike King, Strike King 3x, and Snapback soft plastics from a guy on ebay for $30 bucks all told.

Great bunch of baits with only 1 or 2 oddballs i might give away.

I did the math and assuming each bag cost $3.50 each which I think is on the low end it would have easily cost over $75.

What do you think?

<Cymbals crash> He'll be here all week folks...The 7:30 show's different than the 5:00 show. Try the buffet!  ;)

a curado 200 and a st croix premier for 100 bucks.  Rod and reel didnt look used but maybe 1-2 times.  Turned it for about 200 bucks.

An Ultimate Jig that I paid 2.99 for.Doesn't sound like a good deal but I won almost $4000 off of it. ;)

Last summer my buddy bought some furniture for his new house at a garage sale. I went back later that night with my utility trailer to help him move it. Over in the corner of the garage they had some dtuff that didn't sell. I noticed some rods and reels (one of them being a Curado 200) so I asked how much they wanted for them. All I was really interested in was the Curado .......... $40 ........ SOLD!!!!! I got a Curado 200, some old Daiwa reel I had never seen before, and two BPS Extremes that I sold on Ebay for $80

For you guys that golf ..... Back around 2001 or 2002 when Taylor Made just came out with their 300 series Drivers.  They were HOT!!!!!  The country club I worked at could hardly keep them on the shelves.  One day I found a head in a trash can at the course.  Just the head.  Took it to the Pro Shop and put about $60 into it, and sold it for almost $300.

Well, as I always say, the best money I spend all year, is on my fishing license..... about $50, for 100 plus trips, so certainly a great deal. How could one ever complain ? :-)

......but then, to top it off, I became sponsored by Yamaha G3 last year, and so of course I got a very good deal on my new boat, motor, and trailer package...

But here's the kicker ! I didn't even know about this when I got my new Yamaha G3, but anyone who bought a new package from them (at least in 06'.... I'm not sure if they are still offering this in 07') gets a full reimbursement of their fishing license for 3 years !

So my "best" deal, just got even better :-)

Peace,

Fish

PS, To say I love my new boat would be an absolute understatement :-)

My best deals last year were:

1. Shimano Calcutta 251 $35

2. Shimano Curado 201 BSF $45

3. Quantum Energy PTi-20 $80

4. Zoom 6in lizards, any color, $1 per pack

BaitMonkey was happy ;):) :)

I also forgot to mention that my reels were brand new and not displays.  They just happened to be on clearence.

I got a 16 foot 1983 Hydra Sport Bass Boat for free.

That has been my best deal so far as for fishing stuff.

There was a clearance bin at Sports Authority one time that had Super Spook Jrs. and pop n'/spit n' images for 97 cents.  I bought soooo many of those things.

Mine is puney compared to some here but I got some Senkos for a dollar a bag once and some tiki sticks at the same price.    I got a St Criox premier for fifty bucks new at dicks last year.

Back in the early 70s I attended a seminar by Elwood L. " Buck" Perry and bought his home study course; it's still paying off today.

I can't think of any off hand but I remember about 15years ago you could get a 10 pack of regular ole round ball jigs for a $1. Now they 3 for a $1. How times change. :'(

Aww. So your the one that outbid me while I was at work.  Congrats.  Sounds like a good assortment.

Anything I buy from the states is a good deal. Bass stuff here in South Africa is SO expensive. I bought 3 Quantum reels with 3 Bass Pro Shop Reel bags and the Quantum Hot sauce reel oil for the same prize as I would have paid for 1 of the same Quantum Reels here.

But unfortunately my friend that use to stay in the sates moved back here so now I don't have anybody that can collect and ship it for me   :'(

I had a guy who was in a mony crunch and he sold me a 7' MH Fenwick Techna AV for $50.  Got me started on my Fenwick buying binge....wait, maybe that wasn't such a good deal.

Assalt jigs on inventory liquidation. This thread prompted me to pick up another 120!

I paid $ 9.00 for a brand new Amb.5000 w/ a 7'0 Berkley Lightning Rod at Walmart. The reel had a tiny scratch on it(which turned out to be dirt that I washed off). The dept mgr of the sporting goods section is a good friend of mine,I might add.

St Croix Legend Elite for Half Price! Normally $320 and I got it for $150. Oh, and my dad just gave me his boat.
